Texas Lottery on track to crush sales record

Texas LotteryTexas Lottery: Texas Lottery on track to crush sales record

Rating:

AUSTIN, Tx. — With three more months still remaining in the fiscal year, the Texas Lottery has already generated $1,019,639,473 in revenue for the state of Texas. This is the 13th consecutive year the Texas Lottery has contributed more than $1 billion in revenue to the state in the lottery's 24-year history.

"This is by far the earliest in the fiscal year that the Texas Lottery has passed the $1 billion revenue mark," said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery. "With phenomenal scratch ticket sales and January's record-breaking Powerball jackpot, we anticipate that we will easily break last year's fiscal year-end record of $1.242 billion to Texas."

In fiscal year 2015, with $4.529 billion in gross sales, the Texas Lottery broke the sales record it set in the previous year, resulting in the single largest annual transfer of revenue to the state including record contributions to the Foundation School Fund and the Fund for Veterans' Assistance.

The Foundation School Fund, administered by the Texas Education Agency, funds the operational needs and special program services for Texas school districts including teacher salaries, utilities, equipment, bilingual education, special education, gifted and talented education, and career and technical education. To date, Texas Lottery sales have resulted in more than $19 billion for Texas public schools.

The Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance makes grants available to eligible charitable organizations, local government agencies, and Veterans Service Organizations that provide direct services to Texas veterans and their families. With 1.7 million veterans spread across the state, these programs provide financial assistance, transportation services, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder counseling and housing assistance. Since the first veterans' themed scratch ticket game was launched in 2009, the Texas Lottery has contributed more than $60
million for programs supporting Texas veterans.

"Our tremendous sales and revenue this fiscal year would not be possible without the talent and dedication of our lottery staff, vendors and retailers," said Grief. "We are committed to our mission to generate revenue for Texas and we will continue to provide players with the best entertainment experience available through innovative games."

Texas lottery will be known as the home of Billy Bob Harrell. Type his name into the Search box. A very tragic case. May he rest in peace.

          .
I read the account, and am familiar with this old, typical story.

"Having won this money was my bad luck."  and things to that effect.
He was not doing so well, before his win.  He had a wife and kids, and he cared for them, it sounds like.

So why did he end up taking his otherwise normal life?  Especially Now?

The story I found didn't go into that.

It makes no sense anyway. Unless he made promises that bit him in the rear, over his period of wealth.

          TO ALL PERSONS:

If you should ever win a lotto jackpot and wish to prevent taking your own life, after your jackpot win,
make doggone sure you get a Lawyer who will better advise you with a money plan, to better guarantee that you'll get to keep more of the money you win, than you otherwise would.

You would go to a Doctor if you suddenly felt chest pains that last a few days or more, wouldn't you?

YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT COULD HAPPEN. SHADY CHARACTERS COULD POP UP ANYWHERE.

          • Don't chase the numbers you play.
          • Play only numbers you've already played, plus however many random picks.
          • But, ALWAYS the regular numbers you play.  This will make you a winner, not a chaser.
(so far, though, I've yet to win any significant lotto prize)

I Agree! I will hire a Trust and Estate Attorney to create my Living Revocable Trust. I will ask about a possible LLC Limited Liability Company. As you say Groppo I will be represented by a lawyer when purchasing real estate, doing business, and in many other ways that I do not have a clue about.See Ya!

In the story I read, it stated that he would give to those who asked. Even if they were a stranger.

The pressure of everyone asking for a handout got to be too much for him to handle.

It's a shame that that's how it ended for him. Winning $31 mil and losing everything.

If you have to type his name into a search box then Texas isn't "known" as the home of Billy Bob Harrell.

I've forgotten who he was. Don't even care who he was.

Higher profits are the result of more losing tickets being produced. I expect NY lotto to announce double record profits this year.

4 games per day each of p3 and p4 will do that I guess.

I wonder when PA will go to 4?
