South Carolina LotterySouth Carolina Lottery: S.C. woman wins $250,000 on wrong lottery ticket — and is giving it awayRating:

A South Carolina woman showed some kindness when a convenience store clerk sold her a lottery ticket that was different than the one she asked for, but bought the ticket anyway.

She was rewarded. The wrong ticket turned out to be the right one, and the Greenville woman won $250,000, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

The unnamed woman purchased the winning ticket at the Red Robin Foods on Woodruff Rd. in Greenville County.

It was a long-shot jackpot, as the unidentified woman overcame 1-in-660,000 odds to win the "7" game on the scratch-off ticket she spent $10 on to play.

Now the woman is showing more kindness — a considerable amount more.

She is going to pay it forward and donate her winnings.

"I'm going to give to my church and then give back to the community," she told the S.C. Education Lottery. "As for me, I'm good."

Her decision to buy the mistake ticket also paid off for the Red Robin Foods store, which received $2,500 for selling the claimed ticket.

She apparently doesn't need the money and it's a nice way to help others in her community.

Congrats on the win.

I wonder if she has a nephew who would like half of the money. Hyper

Congratulations to this woman! She bet $10.00 and won $250,000.00 This is why we play and dream of winning.

She is organized about giving to her Church and the Community. Do not forget the taxes you still owe.

I envy the lady’s luck and generosity. The amount won can go a long way for some individuals alas, a giving soul deserved it more, congratulations.

I sure hope her donation is not to one of those churches, where the pastor has a Gulfstream jet parked out back. That money won’t end up with the poor.Generous soul nonetheless.

It’s nice for her to give back but why not be blessed and take something for yourself isn’t that’s why we play the lottery I swear some of these stories are not believable

                  .

OK, this woman did good by not disclosing her identity, as I'm sure most, if not all of us, would do.
But, I once had a job in SC, and had a less than favorable outcome from it.

I compare this lady's good fortune to my less than favorable ordeal, which I had experienced.

Mine had to do with an unprovoked racial incident, YES, racial.  But, it's been over-with now, for over a decade, and no bad ever came of it, though the offending race at the time, acted in whole against me. I was a little intimidated by it, BUT, I managed to get up the courage to confront the one who started it all. Even my boss who didn't like me that much, was of the same race.  The offender told my boss in front of me, ". . . but he apologized. . . ".

That never happened.   I NEVER apologized in that incident.  I NEVER DID ANYTHING TO ANY PARTY THAT WOULD WARRANT MY GIVING ANY APOLOGY.   And, when I confronted the other party, I made that point clear, expecting another outburst from the group of 15 or so, of that race.  BUT, nothing happened.
This, of course is before my "avid" participation in MM AND PB.
I stood my ground, and made it clear that

                  "I mattered."

I thanked God, for having given me the strength to plainly and straight-forwardly defend myself.

I'd later leave SC, for the last time, and came on home.
Should I ever win a big lotto prize, I will move to Californy.

                  • Don't chase the numbers you play.
                  • Play only numbers you've already played, plus however many random picks.
                  • But, ALWAYS the regular numbers you play.  This will make you a winner, not a chaser.
(so far, though, I've yet to win any significant lotto prize)
                  • Oh, but always know where your tickets are, as well as your ticket's deadline.

the "i'm going to give it away" ploy is used to deflect relatives and others from trying to infringe on her winnings. used successfully by many winners as it makes people forget about making an attempt to harass the winner for a share. more than likely this lucky woman will give out less than 2000.00 to her church and community combined.

There are people who play for fun--I'm not one of them.

She said she'd "pay it forward".  What do you think that means Billy Bob?

not sure what it means. thought pay it forward was something you do at the toll plaza or drive-thru for the anonymous person behind you. so is she going to just throw it all out there to her church or community and let them distribute it. somehow doubt that is going to happen with all of it. a portion perhaps, but all of it. ludicrous. if you are going to give it all away at least have the satisfaction of knowing exactly where it is going.
