Wisconsin LotteryWisconsin Lottery: Wisconsin bill allowing anonymity for lottery winners heading to committeeRating:

MADISON, WI — A bill that would allow lottery winners to remain anonymous in Wisconsin will go before a State Assembly committee next week.

The privacy act was introduced by Speaker Robin Vos the same day that a Milwaukee-area man claimed a $768 million Powerball prize this spring. Voss says requiring winners to be identified opens them up to possible fraud and takes away their right to privacy.

Manuel Franco, a 24-year-old New Berlin man, claimed the prize back in March and during his press conference said the winning ticket came with a feeling of paranoia about what would happen next once his name was revealed.

Vos cited that quote while looking for co-sponsors for the bill.

Those with the Wisconsin State Lottery maintains that winners should be identified as a means of transparency and maintaining public trust in the system.

The Assembly Committee on State Affairs will hold a hearing on the bill Wednesday, July 10th.

There is no national standard for identifying lottery winners. Each state sets their own laws.

The next step is to the Assembly Committee on State Affairs.

This reality shows what a sad state our Country is in. Criminals ruin it for the rest of us.

Each citizen has their own responsibility to live a decent and law-abiding life.

Iowa will probably never go anonymous because of Eddie Tipton.

When will COVID-19 be finished?  A vaccine may protect all of us.

I think being that the winner was so young and probably didnt know his options very well, like considering getting an attorney before he claimed his prize, could have kept himself anonymous under creating a trust account to claim the prize under instead of his name.

The lawyer sitting next to the winner is Andrew Stoltmann from Chicago, IL.  He recommends taking the Annuity.

You are correct in creating a trust before claiming. A Revocable Living Trust. That will not protect your assests. It directs where your wealth goes after you die.

For Asset Protection hire another lawyer.

Besides all of the above you will need more legal forms.

And the anonymity train is picking up speed.

How about until all states let players remain anonymous winners in states that don't do so use the name

              Ann Nonymous

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.

              Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.
