MIDDLE RIVER, Md. — A Maryland lottery player who studies winning numbers has won her second $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize in the span of three months.
One Maryland woman credits her spiritual gift and intuition when it comes to winning the lottery, a practice supported by her two recent Bonus Match 5 wins of $50,000.
"While there is no such thing as a pattern when it comes to random Maryland Lottery drawings, a Middle River woman says she sometimes feels confident about particular combinations of numbers," the Maryland Lottery announced last week. "When she does, she buys her tickets and waits to see if her intuition pays off."
The anonymous player's second visit with the Lottery in three months had officials considering the plausibility of her methods. And sure enough, her winning ticket confirmed her recent $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize.
She'll study winning numbers to see if she gets a confident feeling, the woman told the Lottery, and with the help of her "gift," she'll channel her spirituality to help guide her choice of numbers.
"I see things a lot of folks can't see," she explained to Lottery staff.
She "broke into songs of praise" when she visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Feb. 18 to claim her prize, which she said will allow her to help her adult children whenever they're in need. She'll also use the winnings to pay off her mortgage.
The mystery woman purchased her winning ticket at Compass Beer Pump on Compass Road in Middle River, the same retailer that sold her the first $50,000 winning ticket in December.
The winning numbers in the Feb. 15 Bonus Match 5 drawing were 5, 6, 10, 31, and 33, with red Bonus Ball 17.
"From a cold statistical perspective, results of previous drawings have no influence on what the numbers will be in any upcoming drawing," the Lottery noted in a press release. "In Bonus Match 5, the odds of matching all five numbers to win the $50,000 top prize are always 1 in 575,757, even if those five numbers were drawn the day before."
Now that she's won the top prize a second time, the woman said she might be feeling a need to switch to playing a different game. One thing is for certain, though, which is that she doesn't plan on quitting the lottery anytime soon.
"You can't win if you don't play!" she added.
For selling each winning ticket, the retailer received a $500 bonus from the Lottery.

YUP!! You can lose over & over but win a couple times big and they say you are cheating ect. Only way I know to get around that is play games that are below the tax threshold so they never know you are winning.
