The Mega Millions jackpot, which increased to $100 million after no tickets matched all six numbers last night, is the highest jackpot ever for the state of Texas.
"We promised players a game that would produce high level jackpots and be exciting," said Reagan E. Greer, Executive Director of the Texas Lottery Commission. "Not only did we reach that goal, we included a game feature that players told us they wanted the Megaplier, a chance for players to increase their non-jackpot prizes."
Projections for the Mega Millions' jackpots to reach levels of $100 million or more could occur approximately five times per year.
The previous Texas lottery jackpot record was an $85 million Lotto Texas jackpot in March 2001.

That means Maine runs the only US lottery which has yet to offer a $100m prize.
