A ticket-buying frenzy will ensue in Texas, where the Lotto jackpot rolled last night to a record $145 million.
No ticket sold for Wednesday night's record $120 million Lotto Texas jackpot matched all five numbers plus the bonus number, meaning that a new jackpot high estimated at $145 million will be up for grabs Saturday night.
The numbers drawn were 8-9-19-22-26. The bonus ball was 8.
At 9 p.m., the Texas Lottery said, more than 36,600 tickets were being sold each minute. Sales in just the hour between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. totaled nearly $2.2 million.
Huge jackpots drive up ticket sales, making the escalating jackpot numbers a relief to Texas lottery officials, who feared that sales would suffer after the state recently began participating in the multi-state Mega Millions game.
The Friday Mega Millions jackpot is $121 million, a four-month high.
