Lottery clubs
Your question is actually a little dangerous, from a risk perspective, which is why RJOh recommended forming a club with friends. (A good suggestion.) Around here on the Internet has no meaning, because the Internet is everywhere. Do you really want advice on joining some lottery club with people, all of whom you have never met? The majority of lottery clubs on the Internet would risk your money. Many would be outright theft. Others are pyramid schemes. Looking for a lottery club on th

Read This Tennessee Players Not Winners
Sorry to hear about your theft. Like someone said, gambling is a game of chance. I never like pick 3 because of the return. Tn is not a good place for lottery players because it is all computerized. I feel that if anyone wants to get your money they should take time to do a ball drawing. It is no surprise that the dreaded TN lotto plus got won during their promotion with powerball.

Collecting Big Winnings
Right now I don't think I'd have the time to make plans, so I would probably claim it in January. It wouldn't necessarily be because of taxes, since I'd still need to pay them, but I'd want to talk to a tax specialist anyway, probably an attorney. You can't hold on to your money until April of 2010 as others have written in past threads. Once you receive your W-2G I believe you need to file your income tax return within a few months. If you make a lot of interest, the IRS requires that you fi

if you found a winning ticket that wasn't yours
Ok. I gotta chime in on this one. The IRS doesn't nickel and dime, they don't care. It is too time consuming for them to go after the little ones. Remember, the majority of taxes paid to the IRS comes from business and the top 10% of income earners I am talking like 90% of the collected taxes comes from the top income brackets. Any money that you make and keep in your mattress unreported, is just that, in your mattress. They only know about it if you bank it and earn interest on it. I ha

Ethics or Not
??? I don't understand this poll. This really has nothing to do with ethics at all. I don't think you have much of a choice in this case. You cannot cash the ticket if someone else's name is on the back of it. When you walk into the Lottery Office, they will ask for 2 forms of ID including a photo ID (driver's license, passport) and your social security number. So whoever chooses this answer is admitting to Identity Theft! Second, if there is any suspicious activity, the Lottery Of

Would you wait until 2011 to gift money away (no gift/estate tax 2011)
Bravo, Orangeman! I agree that taxation is theft, only because the government spends the money we earn any way it pleases. It uses trillions of dollars to destroy a foreign country instead of providing shelter for the homeless and food for the hungry. It uses our taxes to destroy the environment instead of to save it. I want to comment on how eloquently you described the whole idea of gift tax. It is telling people who have either been very wise or frugal that they cannot leave their he

Contacting Professionals After You Hit A Multi-Million Dollar Prize!
Sorry everyone that I keep posting on this thread, but I just read this comment, and Guru again has a good point. How would you prove you had the winning lottery ticket in it? What if there was a fire? I would sleep with it, wear it, never let it out of my sight until it was validated. This is copied from the FDIC web site Safe Deposit Boxes The contents of a safe deposit box are not insured by the FDIC. greedy person
Sounds as though you and your sister lover, whatever, have found a system for beating the scratchers. Scratch 'em first, then pay for them if you win. Sooooooo. Lessee. Your hmmm paramour, friend, whatever, is a thief. But the emphasis of your post focuses on her greed, because that particular behavior's the one that touched your life. Whereas the theft you and she jointly participated in resulted in a financial gain for each of you. Who was it? Shakespeare? Said there's no honor am

easy Lotteries Vs. Bank robbing....
Guys, do you think that if there was a way to hit the lottery (any lotto game) very often, and it was common knowledge, that it would cut down on bank robbing, identity theft, scam, hacking, shoplifting, etc. Like if there was a way that you could hit pick3 (like a pick3 game with less combination) very often and it was obvious, that people will cut down on bad habits? If lotteries were easy, i think people will concentrate their energies into hitting the pick3. Think about it, for example who wo
