Best jackpot advice yet
A tax refund is not manna from heaven. A refund means that the government took more money out of a person s paycheck than needed. People should be saving that money for a rainy day instead of blowing it on a trip to Las Vegas. Nobody will dispute that David Edwards blew his windfall but doesn't mean it's a bad idea for people use their tax refund for a vacation. If people can t handle a tax refund, imagine what they would do with $27 million. I sure hope sure hope I can handle my $

Can IRS make you pay taxes if you give lottery tickets as gifts?
Since they have to tell the office where they got the ticket from then they would have to say that I gave them the ticket, The lottery would already know where the ticket came from so unless there was an ownership dispute, there would be no reason for them to ask where they got the ticket. would i have to pay any gift taxes? I'm not sure if you could claim the cost of the ticket as a gift and use it as a deduction but you pay taxes on your income not what you spend.

tax strategy
Because the law has changed on gift tax, in 2007, my wife and I can each gift an individual up to $2.0M without triggering the gift tax. This impacts your otherwise good calculations and increases the savings substantially. Because a winning lotto ticket in Texas is legally a bearer bond until it is signed and presented to the Lottery Commission, I would strongly dispute your characterization of any fraud being involved. My sources tell me that the encouragement of the State to consult a

Who is the person who just left a voice mail?
Suja, Speednet cannot identify a voice in which someone states I have a charge on my credit card from Speednet. I guess I will dispute it. How would you propose that I identify who left the message, other than doing what I am doing?

Mega Draw
dvdiva, A couple of posts ago, you claim not to understand why the jackpot rolled. Now you claim that bonus draws do exist but are smaller and dispute that millions go unclaimed. My information is based on conversations with the lottery office staff. I called their customer support line.

Sopranos Episode 4/23 commentary
Quote: Originally posted by Timmer692002 on April 25, 2006 I just figure Todd might get a bit upset by going off topic, but seeing as how he doesn't seem to mind on THIS one point, I can not say/dispute anything. I have a weakness for the Sopranos -- sorry. My only other two weaknesses (as f

What if someone interferes ??
Ahh think about it this way....Nobody likes to be in a car accident yet everyone does slow down to see the wreckage and aftermath. Its human nature. Otherwise for the most part, its rather comical to read some of the rantings.barista made some factual data that isnt even open to dispute. Good research on that!Tntea- My post to you was sincere. Again, a difference in interpreting text and adding your own*inflection* /*tone without so much as reading it at face value. I'll agree that we each have

Your lottery pool won,but you didn't play
There are 2 very recent examples of this here in Canada. In the first one, where 13 workers shared a $54M ($45M US) Jackpot in Alberta, there was one other that did not play because he was away the day the numbers were picked/played ... he expressed deep regret for not participating, and happiness for the winners, but placed no claim for a share. However, the winners were heard to say on the news they were considering givig the guy some of the winnings anyway, not a full share but a substantial a

Prime ticket service
This post references another thread that Todd must have deleted before I tried to comment.----------------------------------------------------------------------Looks like this thread has gone and blown up!I used Prime Ticket Service for the first time a couple weeks ago to play Euro Millions. Certainly more convenient than flying to London or Paris. I printed out my ticket confirmation email, and that should go a long way in a dispute.I do have questions about the appropriate safeguards and p
