Vending machine attendant gets more than a little spare change
By Kate Northrop
A vending machine attendant who goes by the name Spare Change has just won $1 million from a scratch-off in the Maryland Lottery.
The 36-year-old man, who hails from Millsboro, Delaware, picked up his fortune in the midst of his daily routine when he purchased a scratch-off ticket from the Lottery's 100X The Cash game for $20.
Spare Change stopped at the 7-Eleven convenience store on Coastal Highway in O

Mega Millions lottery ticket worth $61 million sold in California
Giving the workers a share of the slice of the pie is once again up to the Owner of the establishment. He/she should not be forced to do so.You ought to read some of the posts in the recent past that suggested that if you won a jackpot, it should be your duty to return to the store and give the person who sold you the ticket x amount of dollars. l say it is up to you the winner, to decide whether you want to or not.If you used one of the lottery vendor machines that spat out your winning ticket,

Faulty $50 Wisonsin lottery ticket causing a flap
I saw almost the same thing happen on Monday when a vending machine cut off the bottom of a ticket, but that person didn't scratch the ticket. The clerk refunded the money, opened the machine and corrected the problem. Not everyone notices the bar codes on the bottom of the ticket, but payoffs are based on them.
Without a bar code the lottery can't pay though they should know if the $50 was paid.

Winning Lotto ticket survives washing machine
A four-week-old Lotto ticket survived a trip through the washing machine to net $250,000 for its Christchurch, New Zealand, owner.
The ticket bought at Pak'n'Save in Moorhouse for the July 9 Lotto draw shared the First Division prize with tickets bought in Auckland, Waitakere and Hastings.
The winner, who wants to stay anonymous, said he found the ticket last weekend after he washed an old pair of jeans.
I went through the wet pockets and realised I had washed a Lotto ticket in the jea

Indiana man says store cost him $11.5M lottery jackpot
Heres something I always wondered about: Why does the lottery machineneed to be online and communicating with the mothership machine inorder to simply print out your 6 numbers ?
Because the 6 numbers printed on the ticket aren't what determines whether or not it's a winning ticket. That's determined by an entry that the mothership machine makes in the database, identifying the ticket by its own unique identity, including the time and place of purchase in addition to the 6 numbers.

Retailers luckier than expected, Atlantic Lotto says
Here in Oregon if you take a big win lottery ticket (anything over $600 I think - under $600 can be paid out by anystore that sells lottery tickets) to a store other than the one where you purchased it, the verification machine does not recognize it as a winner - though it does not come back with the sorry not a winner notification. Apparently the clerks are under no obligation to tell the owner of the ticket that they need to take their ticket to the store where purchased for validation. I've

Two $31 million Mega Millions lottery jackpots won in Massachusetts in one week
I just tried to dream up a story about an MITer obtaining a lotto ticket printer and modifying the machine to print up a ticket with his numbers, but showing a QP, thereby masking how his/her numbers were picked. The MITer is working with an insider to rig the pick at HQ. The ball picking machine is rigged with magnets turned on at moment of draw. The MITer defeats the security through obscurity methods used at Mega Millions HQ.

South Carolina lottery winner where are you? $1.5B still unclaimed, and clock is ticking
Perhaps the winning ticket didn't print due to a printer error. It happened to me a handful of times here in New York City. Sometimes the clerk running the machine doesn't figure out that the lotto printer is way low on receipt tape. Once that happens the lotto machine will not reprint another ticket with the same numbers even if you change the tape.

Faulty $50 Wisonsin lottery ticket causing a flap
This actually happened to me when I bought my ticket in a machine and the machine cut it too early so what i did was buy the next ticket and the next until the machine corrected itself which it did. Needless to say none were winners anyway. But machine do make mistakes.
