Yes in Georgia you can only claim up to $600.00 at a local retailer. Which by the way sucks because Ga only takes out taxes if you win over $5,000.00. For winning amounts of $601 through $4,999.00 there is no taxes taken out but you still are responsible come tax time. One year I had $4,500 of winning tickets that were not taxed but still had to file. lets see if it shows up this time:

I was in georgia on the weekend. went off an exit on I-95 and there were these 2 shady looking gas stations next to each other. went to both and they both had walls full of winners. Tons of $500s, many $1K's several $5K and $10K. In fact some truck driver hit a $10K on Extreme Green there last week. Biggest winner they had was a $250K on a $5 ticket and $1 Mil on a $10 ticket. Very cool to see those. The place was nasty though, feces on the bathroom floor and all.... Anyway grabbed a book of $3

NY Scratch-off Discussion
I think a million after taxes etc you are only left with $500K ... If you win $100K for life you only get $75K per year minus additional income taxes. You aint gonna be a 'millionaire' either way though

I bought an entire book of $20 GA tickets - $3,000,000 Taxes Paid
I have wanted to do this for a while, and the results were very disappointing, much worse than I expected. I purchased 15 of the $3,000,000 Taxes Paid tickets, numbers 000 through 014. The total cost of the book was $300. What did I get in return? Three free tickets, a $30 winner and a $40 winner, for a total of $130. I have won $60 once, and $30 twice just buying one or two tickets at a time, previously, which is what I suggest anyone reading this does. I had been previously been told by a l

This is something I've debated with my mother for a long time, as she has been a tax preparer for almost 20 years now. I've often wondered why she told me I couldn't write off losing lottery tickets.... and the answer is below! https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/tax-tips/Taxes-101/Can-You-Claim-Gambling-Losses-on-Your-Taxes-/INF14370.html Basically you need to be able to itemize on a schedule A, and have more of a value there then the standard deduction of a minim
