N.J. paper investigates best and worst places to buy lottery tickets
This is not a lucky number: 07102. And yet lottery players line up every day at a convenience store register in this Newark ZIP code. They bring their hopes, dreams and dollars and trade them for games. Hopefuls mill about the Welsh Farms store on Court Street, thumbing through small pieces of paper inscribed with names like Pick 3, Pick 4 and Jersey Cash 5. Some stand against the brick wall outside, feverishly scraping quarters crusted with silver dust across instant-win scratch-off games

I cracked MN lottery scratch off barcodes
I know this isn't what you're looking for. I'm looking at three Florida Scratch Offs one is a winner two are not. The bar codes are . . . 1389-0180488-3-057 (093) 1389-0180488-3-058 (092) 1389-0180488-3-059 (091) The bar code bars are identical until half way roughly just over the 3 and different toward the end where I assume it's picking up the changing numbers. Even if this were a crackable code to determine winners from losers, to be of any value it would a

North Carolina: 9/1 - 9/30/2011
Effective now, i will not be playing anymore doubles,i blew most of my money on doubles because it was time for them and everything ointed to them. i dont care if doubles run day and night all month. this month has been a disgrace and the jokers running ncel need to be locked up. 2 doubles at night this month ???? please compare to other states for yourself and see what i am speaking of. each time we get triggers for doubles they get lost. i know the ratio of 6ways versus doubles so i dont need

Reading scratch-off tickets - codes / barcodes
Hey B!g, welcome to the Boards here! I'm only familiar with Florida scratch-offs but might still have some useful info. btw FL used to have the lettering codes you refer to (for $500 and below wins) but phased them out...the only existing here that still has them is the $2 Gold Rush (which is scheduled to end in Feb '22 after a 7-year run). Here's my thoughts on your question if folks are studying a ticket before scratching it any. They could be: Simply be not familiar with the game an

Why you might go bankrupt if your next-door neighbor wins the lottery
This article is full of crap! This type of garbage is designed to get people not to play the lottery. Look at what they wrote: They analyzed lottery prizes and bankruptcy filings over 10 years, sorted down to six-digit postal codes that on average contained only 13 households, revealing financial ripple effects on a lottery winner's closest neighbors. They limited their analysis to neighborhoods with a single lottery win and excluded cases when lottery winners themselves filed for bankrupt

How To Determine Winning Scratch-Off Lotto Tickets – Texas
I find scratch-offs more fun than drawings games so I'll take a gander here. What advantage are you purporting to calculate? Your post is a little confusing. Are you saying that based on numbers on the back of a ticket you know whether the pack is worth playing or not? We already know how many winners are in the pack. The lottery says so in the game technical procedures, which aren't written on the ticket. You can also determine how far away the next winner is based on the odds of winning, wh

$3 Bonus Crossword (FL Lottery)
I wonder if this is a 'refresh' of the crossword game from about a year ago n FL. last August on vacation there I bought 6 or 7 of the crosswords in a row and while announcing to my family that we were going to give Amway a try (kidding) I instead busted out these crossword puzzles. Not one dam winner. So its pretty funny that crosswords just hit TN this month too. Played about 4 times, finally won $4 and havent played again. Not enough T's or N's to win anything! lol Oh, and

Poaching for winning tickets
This is very true. In PA they recently changed..again...the verification mode. They removed letter codes from tickets. The play field is now missing what many people looked for...winning letters. Losing letters were Q, B, P, Z, K....a quick scratch in the right area of the ticket would reveal instantly if the ticket was a winner or loser, without playing the game. A store clerk told me they go through the trash and check the discarded tickets all the time. They said one day, they found

Winner, without scratching?
What JBG said is correct. There are codes for the smaller prizes, but the bigger prizes can give random codes, 3 letters that make no sense at all, to us, the players anyway. As far as the position on where the winner will be on the card, I have never heard of this. I thought the same as you about the player picking a lucky spot to scratch being the only spot scratched. As far as not scratching anymore spots, he really wouldn't have to since he won, the machine will tell him the amount won

Does $9 goof point to larger problems with Ontario Lottery?
Wow...Her store..His store....does it matter whos store it was. I have followed Ontario's lotteries since I was a kid and grew up attending lottery draws. I still attend the draws and keep in contact with officials on a daily basis. Unfortuantely, I come across information that the public doesn't know from time to time. For example, did you know that non-winning codes and big winners on instant scratch tickets are the same. Back in 1990, Ontario lottery changed its codes so players w
