Undercover Kentucky Lottery investigation snares three store employees trying to steal prizes
An undercover operation conducted by the Kentucky Lottery has nabbed three store clerks trying to steal winning tickets. A grand jury in Louisville has handed down indictments against three individuals charged with influencing the winning of a lottery prize through coercion, fraud, deception or tampering with lottery equipment or materials, and a separate charge of providing false information to a lottery investigator. The first charge is a class B felony carrying a possible sentence between

California Lottery officials seen in bawdy photos sent to governor
Why....why...this just can't be happening in the land of political correctness...Oh what are Californians to do ?? Call Governor Moonbeam, Call Nancy Palsey and that bastion of integrity Diane Feinstein.... This is an absolute abomination and needs at least a state investigation if not a federal investigation !!! Affected employees should contact Gloria Allred for legal representation IMMEDIATELY... Better get NOW involved and have the ACLU on stand-by. I strongly recommend that Dr. Phil be b

Florida store employee arrested for 'micro-scratching' lottery tickets
Seriously, mind you...he also walked into a lottery district office to cash in that $500 winner. Lottery offices have different protocol they follow when cashing in a ticket such as having people sign the back of it (even if it is a small winner and isn't a claim ticket). If he would have went into a grocery store to cash it in, he probably wouldn't have been flagged for suspicion. Additionally, this would be an easy investigation due to the fact that claim tickets ($1000 or more) also send a

Online lottery sales not approved by Massachusetts lawmakers
If you win $500 that many times, MUSL will investigate the fraud going on given it's near impossible for anyone to win that many times, and they'll look at the surveillance cameras and find out who won that much. Apologies for laughing, but some state lotteries pay out $500,000 daily and I seriously doubt they have the time or resources to investigate 365,000 winning tickets year. Now if a state had an average daily sales of $600,000 and paid out $500,000 daily, there might be some type

Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich answers your questions
Thank you Mr. Rich for taking your time tonight to answer some questions. I have a question that wasn't asked. Whenever there is a breach in security in a game and an investigation does take place, and lottery employee(s) are terminated and prosecuted, is the general public notified about these things? I understand that everyone is going to be upset about spending all that money on lotto tickets when the game was rigged by tipton and the jackpot was $15 Million but, even for lower amounts being

Man found $1M lottery ticket while raking leaves
I was in Resorts World on Friday 12/27/2013 when the winners were presented their checks from NY Lottery Rep Yolanda Vega. All the news stations were present and this particular guys story was as Yolanda interpreted for him was that he was hired to clean up the yard in LI after hurricane Sandy. He was raking the leaves found the ticket and brought it home to dry. It was a winner, already scratched and in horrible condition. It couldn't be verified at the local store so he went to the NY Lottery

Man found $1M lottery ticket while raking leaves
I did state once the lottery deems the ticket is legit . Giggles, i thought i was a bit repetitive actually on what determines a legit owner of a ticket as well, which we both are on the same page with it seems, so guess i am not understanding what your trying to clarify per what i said. Of course, as part of making sure the ticket is legit i imagine they do verify where the ticket was purchased and when. The lottery has no concern on who gave who a ticket unless there is something faulty abo

Man found $1M lottery ticket while raking leaves
From what legal info I have read, a Bearer Instrument assumes whoever possesses the item is the owner of the item. The assumption can be challenged under some circumstances (example: someone steals it and if the theft can be proven in court then that trumps the Bearer claim). Most lotteries will do some investigation of a winning claim over $10,000. On major wins, they will do more in-depth investigation before paying out a claim. One thing that the lottery is selling on is trust and that

A Stranger In My Home - Death By Lottery
Anyone that has Investigation Discovery, this Sunday (November 24th, 10PM EST) they are doing an episode on Abraham Shakespeare. http://investigation.discovery.com/tv-shows/a-stranger-in-my-home/tv-schedule.htm Wasn't really looking for it, but was up and the promo just came on. It was weird, even though I had the TV muted at the time, I was almost certain the episode they were promoting was about him and his story.

Lottery winner's body reburied after autopsy
The body of a West Rogers Park, Illinois, man who died of cyanide poisoning last summer after winning a million-dollar lottery was laid to rest again Monday, three days after his remains were exhumed for an autopsy as part of a homicide investigation. The scene at Rosehill Cemetery on Monday afternoon was in sharp contrast to Friday morning, when a throng of reporters and TV cameramen had massed outside an entrance gate as numerous Chicago police, Cook County medical examiner officials and ce
