$1.3 BILLION: Powerball jackpot soars to 5th-largest in game history
I simply load the last cash value, and subtract the previous cash value (generally off the Texas Lottery site) and use the cash/sales ratio to estimate sales . And in this case you got garbage out because you put garbage in as a result of data that wasn't updated. In this case it looks like you used the $498.4 million cash value for the originally announced $1.1 billion jackpot. The actual cash value at drawing time was about $46 million higher, so they needed almost 70 million fewer ticket

$1.7 BILLION: Will Powerball create a Christmas billionaire?
Wow, no bumps in the jackpot anymore these days. Looks like no one cares about Powerball anymore Sales are slower than they used to be, but enough people care to buy about 125 million tickets for tonight's drawing, based on the latest sales estimate. What do you think the final jackpot will reach tonight? Will it not make the estimation, will it exceed the estimation or will it pretty much hit the mark? The worksheet posted on Monday estimated the funded annuity at just a hair shy

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Lottery sales for the big national games are down. This is probably the main reason the Mega Millions game was recently changed. Even on my worst days I'm not nearly stupid enough to think they wouldn't have tried messing with the game even if sales were still what they were 3 to 5 years ago, but the change was definitely an attempt to increase sales. So far the sales per drawing have been consistently higher than shortly before the change for the jackpots values we've seen, and sales f

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
https://lite.cnn.com/2025/12/13/business/powerball-billion-dollar-jackpot-mega-millions Sounds to me like the author doesn't know much about how lotteries work or appreciate that the results of just 3 or 4 jackpot runs may not be representative. The headline screams that he's missing the clue that even if PB sales were up (they're not) due to MM's price increase it's still probability that results in billion jackpots. The average PB jackpot should have a cash value of about $195 million

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
My contention is that this run is already at the 40/41 rollover point because of the $50M starting point as opposed to $20M. I don't think anyone's arguing against that, including the people at MM. Unlike some people here the people at MM probably don't care, even if they wish it had grown faster. For about 35 of those drawings revenue was up compared to the $2 price, and only the last few drawings have seen revenue drop relative to the $2 tickets, but MM is playing the long game. The curre

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot is growing faster because sales for the game are higher than Powerball sales.

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
248156 sold as of 05/14, so only six days instead of seven between sales updates. That averages to 2625 sold per day for the past six days. Seventy-five days into Raffle sales, the average sold per day is 3308. If the average stays in this neighborhood for the entire 122 days of sales, we're looking at somewhere around 415,000 tickets sold.

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Per Florida Lottery, the Raffle sales weekly update is 190300 as of 4-24. We're 55 days in, so average daily sales are at 3460 per day, slightly under last week's 3540 average. So 3460 times 122 (total days of sales in the raffle) would equal 422,120 tickets sold. 640900 Tickets need to be sold just to fund all of the prizes.

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Bought a ticket today around noon in the 117,000 range. Looking at Winterbird's sales data chart (thanks WB!) it seems reasonable to estimate 4,000 more sales today, to put the total sales for interim draw 1 at around 121,000. So if this estimate is close to actual sales, then it looks like odds of winning one of the 2,498 prizes in interim draw #1 would be 1:48. Odds on both the $100,000 and $10,000 prize tiers would be 1:40,333. $5,000 is 1:24,200 $1,000 is 1: 10,083 $500 is 1:537 $100 is
