Lottery odds by removing combinations?
Abbreviated wheels are mostly designed for guaranteeing winning smaller prizes so the odds against are much smaller.

State lotteries jackpot games
With the odds of Megamillions at 1:302,575,350.....600 sets are but a drop in the bucket. Even with second prize odds at 1:12,607,306....600 sets is miniscule.
It just shows just how futile it is to try to spend your way to a jackpot.

UK couple wins £1 million National Lottery prize for the second time
Odds are 1 in 24 trillion, Lottery operator says
By Kate Northrop
A UK couple has beaten what lottery experts call insurmountable odds by winning a 1 million (US$1,342,420) prize in the National Lottery for the second time.
A 1 million lottery win not only did a whole lot of good for one UK couple, but it allowed them to do good for others as well. Now having won twice, they're met with the possibilities another 1 million prize can bring.
On Nov. 26, Richard Davies, 49, and his w

Help Me Understand This 😭
As a player should the focus be on the odds of winning or how often people are winning regardless?
How often (other) people win matters in two ways. If somebody else wins the same drawing you do you only get your share of the jackpot. If anybody won recently the jackpot is less than it is when nobody has won for a longer period of time. I can hope to reduce my chances of sharing a jackpot by choosing a combination I think most players wouldn't choose (and I'd prefer that there was no QP opt

Virginia man wins 20 times in a single Pick 4 lottery drawing, racking up $100,000
Loyal player uses same numbers every single day, hits 20 winning tickets at once
By Kate Northrop
A Virginia man plays Pick 4 every single day, and his big $100,000 payout finally arrived when he purchased 20 lottery tickets for one drawing.
One loyal lottery player won 20 times in a single Pick 4 drawing this month, netting him a $100,000 payday.
Prentice Douglas is consistent with his lottery lifestyle. Every day, he'll play the same numbers in the Virginia Lottery's Pick 4 dra

$1.7 BILLION: Will Powerball create a Christmas billionaire?
One thing I truly miss is bump up to the jackpot like in the good old days. Gone for good I'd say.
Considering that they've done it 4 times in the last 4 months it hardly seems like it no longer happens. Changing to 3 drawings per week has a minor effect, but the real issue is that lottery sales per drawing are generally slower than they used to be. Even so, the current PB run is a rare exception (as of now) for not bumping some of the jackpots for runs that made it past the billion dollar
