This Sums It Up! Read funny story. Post your numbers. Play & WIN BIG!
Read the funny story, then post your numbers. Play WIN BIG! It's a slow day in a little East Texas town. The sun is beating down, and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit........ On this particular day a rich tourist from back east is driving through town. He stops at the motel and lays a $100 bill on the desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night. As soon as the man wa

Predictions for LP for 2010 - NOT number predictions, things you see coming.
What are your predictions for LP for 2010? I don't mean predictions of what numbers will hit like over on the Predcitions page, I mean things you see happening, discussions you see coming, maybe someone here being a jackpot winner, that type of thing. I'll start: Any thread that hints of a system will get a lot of views, no matter if it makes sense or is really way 'out there'. Most people that view a poll won't vote in it. At least a few dozen new members will show up here with an i

Lottery Jackpot: Etiquette for Becoming Embarrassingly Rich
Enjoy Miss Manners Q A : Etiquette for Becoming Embarrassingly Rich No Worries EddessaKnight Dear Miss Manners, Some friends and I were discussing what we would do in the unlikely event that any of us won the lottery, and find we need to appeal to you on one major question that came up. What is the etiquette involved in suddenly becoming embarrassingly rich? Of course, we all agreed that none of us would flaunt it, but the fact remains that, even if one accepted the winnings an

Woman checks old lottery ticket, wins $10 million
An Australian student worried about her parents' money problems rifled through a pile of her lottery tickets Thursday and discovered that she had won 13 million Australian dollars (US$10 million) 10 months ago, a state lottery agency said. The student, living in the west coast city of Perth, received the winning ticket for a draw on July 22 last year as a gift from her father, Western Australia state agency Lotterywest said. By discovering her parents' financial worries were over, the luck

Jackpot winner? (after the big win)
Elixabeth03, you wrote It is a sin if you overspend and think only about yourself and no one else...If you win a large amount and help people along the way, God I know is very pleased with that.. ______________ Thank you for the guilt trip as you tell other people you don't know or their belief structure how to run their lives - while not accepting any level of responsibility. That's actually a red flag for me as you will read later. Me personally. 1. Thank God 2. Good lawyer

If a sibling of yours won a lottery jackpot, how much would you expect to be given?
1. Spending that large a percentage of your winnings on a home is horrible investment planning. Ask any investment advisor if you don't believe me. 2. If you are close to your family, are you really going to be happy living it up in a $7,000,000 house, while your brother or sister struggles to pay their mortgage? 3. $10,000 only seems fair if you are self-centered, or simply don't like that particular family member. If you give away $400,000 to the people closest to you, that is on

Judge rules Washington lottery winners can't be anonymous
Playing in another state is not a very practical solution for most people who live in Washington, where the case in question occurred. Distances here are great for many people to travel to another state. I'd have to travel almost 200 miles, for example, and the chance to remain anonymous in that state is questionable, as well. And as for using another means of getting the tickets, here is a quote from a summary of some of the state's gambling laws: Washington State Internet Gambling

Lottery winner donates $3M jackpot to church
A Long Island, N.Y., congregation was praying for pennies from heaven to help expand their church, but instead they were showered with millions. A parishioner who wants to remain anonymous donated his $3 million winning Ba Da Bling scratch-off lottery ticket to The True North Community Church in Port Jefferson. The donation came as a complete surprise to Pastor Bert Crabbe, though he told the congregation the church was facing financial problems because it was growing so fast. Our cong
