The DA told us the reason they seek maximum here in Shelby County, KY was for two reasons. 1) 'they' will always seek a plea deal. 2) If you do not seek the maximum, you are not allowed to go into court and up the ante, only what's presented in the courtroom. Most up to date info on this case. Looks like he was granted his request to file an amended complaint which is pretty much routinely granted. Powerball filed a motion to dismiss in January and it looks like this motion is on the calendar for May. So the case should be dismissed at that point.
