$835 MILLION: Powerball jackpot set to deliver ultra-wealth
The trick is not to get swayed by the amounts, just spend what one can afford and leave the rest to fate as it were. You could not be more correct if you had to be! What most don't understand is how incredibly wealthy 835 million dollars would actually make someone. The same is true for the current cash value amount of 390.4 million. Banks consider an ultra high networth individual as having 30 million dollars or more to invest. The current cash value amount after taxes is 246 mill

$2 billion Powerball lottery winner Edwin Castro buys a third California mansion for $47 million
This guy is really spending money. I just hope he doesn't go broke. When buying houses, one needs to take into account the costs of ownership like maintaining the property, taxes, utilities, etc. I'm sure they are pretty high considering the size and costs of the properties. I'm sure a vintage 911 isn't cheap either. I'm just hoping he doesn't end up one of those lottery winners we hear about who goes broke and ends up worse off. Only time will tell.

Virginia: 8/1 - 8/31/2023
Wow! That's great mswiz777! I must have either your post or the Virginia Lottery website. Thanks for setting me straight. Congrats again! P.S. Does that mean you have to pay taxes on that money since it's over $600? P.P.S. I owe STell743 an apology, too. Sorry about that, STell743! I checked the Virginia website before I posted and I got it wrong. Again, sorry about that and thanks for keeping me honest!

Iowa Lottery to add Double Play add-on feature to Powerball
Just want to add*** Double Play does not have an annuity like the main PowerBall draw. The 10,000,000 is $10,000,000 before federal state taxes which is a nice plus!

One ticket sold in Florida is sole winner of $1.58 billion Mega Millions jackpot
You think it is rigged for certain states to win it. Considering Florida and California have no state tax on lottery winnings , it makes no sense to rig a MM or PB drawing to benefit either state. Several states collect over 8% in state taxes and it's over 10% in a couple. They don't want the facts to get in the way of their conspiracy theories.

Jackpot : Annuity vs cash value
If you win a jackpot, you can choose to receive the jackpot in an annuity that is paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years with an annual interest rate of 5% or as a lump sum 1 . A lump sum means you get a smaller payout immediately. An annuity spreads your payments out over several years and gives you a larger jackpot over time 2 . The decision between taking the lump sum or annuity depends on your personal financial situation and goals. If you take the lump sum, you will pay all applica

$1.55 BILLION: Biggest Mega Millions jackpot ever to be drawn Tuesday
One of the flip sides of taking the annuity is that you are only certain of the current year tax bracket. In the following years, the tax could go up, go down or remain the same. That's one of the gamble as far as taxes are concerned with annuity. With a win this high it doesn't really matter because you'll be getting paid more than the max for all filing status, so you'll be in the current 37% tax bracket for the next 29 years if the tax brackets remain constant.

VIDEO: Dee Dee Moore killed Florida Lottery winner Abraham Shakespeare... now she wants a new trial
I believe he walked away with $12 to $13 million after the cash option and taxes. He spent a good chunk of it on a new house for himself, and then some houses for his family. He generally helped out people he was close to and those who he knew needed help, like paying off loans and mortgages. While he did a lot of good, unfortunately a lot of people he wasn't close to took advantage of him. He couldn't read or write, except his signature, and he had no clue how to manage money. One could onl

$1.25 BILLION: Mega Millions jackpot set to deliver unimaginable wealth
I got lucky. I found a pool buying tickets for the Friday Mega Millions draw that let me join. Now I am really looking forward to the draw. We never have jackpots this large in Canada. On the other hand, even though our jackpots are smaller, we get to keep all the money - no taxes on lottery wins.
