$1.33 billion Powerball jackpot won by one ticket sold in Oregon
I think we got so blinded by the billion dollar jackpots people think that 1M is loose change. For the second prize winners that live in a state that doesn't tax the lottery that's 630K after taxes. 630K won't necessarily buy you a mansion or a yatch, but 630K can leave someone debt free and a little towards retirement. 630K is not an amount to be frowned upon. That's my attitude towards the game.

On Average How Many People Play PB or MM In A Drawing
Is it possible to know on average how many people play PB or MM during a draw? I'm not sure that the lotteries even have a precise answer. They obviously know if somebody buys multiple tickets with a single playslip, and multiple playslips can be played in a single transaction as reported by the terminal, but we see posters who buy tickets at different stores and even different states. About the best you could do is make a guess at the average number of tickets per player and compare that t

$975 MILLION: Massive Powerball jackpot increases again
Like they say, you have to be in it to win it On that note, I got my one PB with PP and my one MM with the multiplier. Who said that 36M is not a significant amount. The around 10M after taxes is a lot of money - let's not pretend that our lives can only be changed by 100M I would still buy a ticket if the jackpots reset at 10M. Good luck to all.

Resisting Temptations
When the jackpots are this high and I am tempted to buy more and more tickets. I remind myself that millions of tickets have been bought. That helps me to stay grounded. Good luck to the LP community. May fortune smile at us

$1.1 BILLION: Mega Millions jackpot now the eighth-largest in history
do the two jackpots help or hinder the other as it pertains to lottomania? I'd think that not playing PB when the MM jackpot is $100 or $200 million higher would be the obvious strategy considering that the cost is the same and the odds are very close to being the same, but I've never noticed an obvious effect of one game on the other. Maybe when they're both really big and one gets hit a few people figure they should try their luck on the remaining one before it gets hit, too. would yo

$1.1 BILLION: Mega Millions jackpot now the eighth-largest in history
Ques to ponder: do the two jackpots help or hinder the other as it pertains to lottomania? Would mega millions already be 1.1 bil if Powerball was 20 to 300 mil and vice versa? Just dreaming big-time thoughts pre drawing . P.U.: What stinks? Phydeaux, you go outside to do your business !

What are the most used techniques to predict lottery numbers?
Point taken. IF the majority of tickets sold were self picks, then yes, the majority of jackpots won would likely be from self picks. I've been playing lotto type games for over 40 years, tried all kinds of systems for picking numbers, including the wealth of info from Robert Perkins's Lotto-Logix website. I've concluded from all the systems, tests, gimmicks...etc, that when we're dealing with millions of combinations, it's going to come down to good ole fashion luck. Whether numbers a

Other Systems besides Pick 3,4 etc.
Hahaha, I totally love your perspective, especially the part on sharing it would be taking money out of their pocket. The idea that if another person wins on pick 3, it does not impact the amount you would win since it doesn't get split is a very solid point. I can therefore conclude that we could have folks who have systems geared towards the bigger jackpots, but that they prefer to use the same at a personal level. I got a jackpot system, I did not develop it thou I use it a lot.

$1.76 billion Powerball jackpot won by one ticket sold in California
CONTEXT MATTERS: Majority of Indiana's wins was from Powerball BEFORE California came along; California came into the Powerball 2012 ; Indiana Powerball 1992. 20 years head start that is why they have more wins but California will catch them soon the way this turd cycle is going. SINCE CALIFORNIA JOINED POWERBALL: CALIFORNIA - 13 WINS. INDIANA - 1 WIN You look foolish by saying Indiana won more jackpots without using historical context.
