How much do you all think is enough to retire on?
So thank you all so far for everyone's input so far and a lot of decent examples I was reading. I love when I hear people their friends forget the friends worry about them worry about their children and the grandchildren the friends can all wait. If the person has any siblings and I do have two siblings myself my handicap brother and my younger sister but my younger sister is a pain in the neck. I would definitely help out my mother because a mortgage situation and we might be in the mi

Lottery state chart/anonymity and claimants
The NH information is correct. NH already made it fairly easy to stay anonymous by using a trust, but the woman signed her own name on the ticket. Many lotteries say they're required by law to release information about winners, but in NH that was just the lottery's interpretation of requirements under the state's open records law and not a law that actually says lottery winner's names have to be released. IIRC the PA lottery allowed a winner to remain anonymous based on the ruling in the NH c

Workplace Lottery Pool Contract...
I would think a real contract would have to be notorized or made by a lawyer. Not sure. If you have a conversation and agree to do something it's a real contract, though you may have a hard time proving to the court what the terms of the contract are. Putting things in writing and having each signature witnessed helps prove what the agreement is and that everyone really signed it, and a notary is a better witness than another member of the pool. Proving who signed it and what it says may no

What's with NY Sweet Million??
It's disgusting what goes on in families regarding money. In my situation, my brother and I purchased our family home from my Mom after my Dad passed away. My ex brother didn't want to invest in it when I offered him third ownership, and he agreed that my brother and I should purchase Mom's home. After the contracts were signed, and while we were waiting to close (about a year), the value of the house skyrocketed and two weeks before the closing my ex-brother calls and says he won't show up at t

What's with NY Sweet Million??
When the clerk didn't give me the freebie I was thinking, how could this be, the freebie ticket automatically comes out with the $5.00 one? (just as you posted). Then I thought maybe he failed to pick up the freebie ticket up along with the $5.00 one, but that couldn't be what happened because he asked the other clerk if the freebie was still in effect, and then he had to key something in the computer to generate another three lines. Since he gave me the free lines, I didn't think about it any f

Indiana Lottery (Hoosier Lotto)
I had another long response prepared but I lost my connection and lost the post. So just a few short comments for now. @Floyd: As usual your post makes perfect sense. I conceded your point about buying habits and no I don't have any information about lower prize levels. However, I submit to you that distribution patterns have much more to do with the location of scratch off prizes and winners than do sales patterns. With regard to the Cash Blast game the Hoosier Lottery advertises b

Indiana Lottery (Hoosier Lotto)
I have said repeadedly that I do not have any factual proof the Hoosier Lottery is rigged. There are 2 instances of rigged games I can point to. 1. The William Foreman Scratch off scandal. Mr. Foreman...a Hoosier Lottery Security Official rigged a scratch off game. The Hoosir Lottery has admitted Mr. Foreman rigged the game. His accomplices have pled guilty in a plea bargain agreement. Mr. Foreman is out on bail awaiting trial but press reports indicate he will in all probability not be
