Does Mathematical Innumeracy foster superstitions and support the belief in them?
Luck of the draw, RL. The gene pool scramble gave you traits, aptitudes, abilities in one direction, gave me different ones, gave everyone else theirs. What comes easy for me comes with a lot more difficulty for others, and what comes easy for them might be a lot more difficult for me. Whatever we were lucky enough to carry into this life doesn't amount to a virtue. Just luck, pure and simple. But we're all lucky in different ways.

When is there a positive expectation for playing Mega Millions?
It would probably take a syndicate to cover the cost of play, but I believe using several 15 lines using all 75 numbers with each group of the 15 lines using all 15 bonus numbers, could show profitable results. If such a feat could be done, it could be simulated on paper or in a computer program and I haven't been able to do either. Such a scheme might be possible with one of the games with a better overall payout average like Lucky for Life or Texas's AON which according to its webpage has

When is there a positive expectation for playing Mega Millions?
Last night I played 10 line of Lucky for LIfe which I posted on the prediction board which paid $24, a profit of $4. That was the first profit I've made in a long time playing the lottery even though I'm still showing a profit over the long run. I'm starting to believe the only way to have a positive EV on any lottery game is to play only those games with smaller jackpots with a better than average10% play out. When I play MegaMillions while I usually play all 15 megaballs I seldom managed to

Help With Games Skipped Probabilies
I'm trying to find what the actual probabilities of Games Skipped are in Lucky for Life (5 numbers each draw from pool of 48, and 1 number from 18 for the Lucky ball, 6 numbers total drawn each game). Not counting the lucky ball, there are 1,712,304 combinations total. From this, the probability of each number from 1 to 48 can be found. With a filter of any one number having to come out, there would be 178,365 combinations left. This number divided by 1,712,304 gives roughly 10.42 % for each num

Math Geniuses, Help!! "SLAG" Odd/Even Analysis - Chart I
Hi Gary, I always prefer filters that have maximum values ranging from 5 to 10. Few combination characteristics/features will be with max values count from 10+ to 200+ values(e.g., sums). I try to shorten these by using some grouping methods and bring them down to 1-10 or so as the filter values. Since I deal with 5/48 - Lucky for Life, 5/52 Lotto America, 5/69 Powerball and 5/70 Mega millions, I prefer filters that can get rid of lot of combinations. Disadvantage is that, this also has the r

BETA - Neural Network in Java. Numbers Predictor
Hi there lucky1day Look as I sceptic myself for years I got the answer from a reliable source in the industry how lotteries really work and to be honest with you if you think about it logically all the puzzle pieces will fall into place. You should understand a business main goal is to be profitable -if they are not profitable they cannot go on. Lotteries around the world will only let jackpots go if they have profit and they can let the last jackpot go to a winner. That make 100% business se

Can math and logic improve chances of winning a jackpot?
yimmininny4164, With the number of links you post, that FED part should have made you fat by now. Pat yourself on the back for being with the in crowd who believe everything on the internet is true. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would threaten and can't understand why, if you were threatened, you came back. Makes no sense to me to put my health or life in that situation over something so trivial as lotteries. It comes to mind that people who play jackpot games, Power
