Lottery number strategies subject of newspaper investigation
The odds are long. The drawings are random. And the house keeps a much greater share of wagers than other forms of gambling. In sum: The lottery cannot be beaten. There is no system that can improve your chances of winning the lottery, period, says Mike Orkin, a California mathematician who has written extensively about gambling odds.Yet the quest for an ever-elusive winning lottery strategy is alive and well and for sale.On a quiet, dead-end street in Denville stands the headquarters of Doubl

NM Lottery Pick 4 computerized drawing glitch made many tickets worthless
If MM and PB are the only real lotteries, why does the pick-3 Forum have 130,194 topics/3,607,670 post discussing pick-3 games? If MM and PB are so popular, where are the systems and playing strategies? There are lots of MM and PB topics about claiming tickets and spending imaginary winnings and I don't see pick-3 players condemning those games. Do you personally know a MM or PB jackpot winner or even a winner of a five number match?

Michigan Lottery has few options to stop players who spend millions

Lottery fever is alive and well in New Jersey
They call themselves the Coolers, based on the 2003 Las Vegas thriller The Cooler, starring William Macy. He plays a character who is hired in old-school casinos to subdue high rollers' action, until he falls in love. Unlike the movie, this group has not encountered Lady Luck and has yet to pinpoint its cooler. But that doesn't stop them from continuing their 15-year tradition of Thursday lottery lunches. Illinois Lottery kicks off new 'Hit or Miss' game
The new game is nearly identical to a Texas Lottery game called All or Nothing Take a good look at the payoff chart in the OP. Good point because Texas pays $10 for matching 3 or 9 numbers and Illinois will only pay $5. It's $50 compared to $20 matching 2 or 10 numbers and $500 compared to $250 for matching 1 or 11 numbers. But that doesn't change the facts the odds against winning any those prizes are identical. I believe Northstar is using the same strategies casinos use to get mo

Arizona Lottery computerized drawing machine generated identical winning numbers
PA Treasure Hunt (5/30 game: 1 in 142,506) had duplicate numbers drawn too within a week of each other. 02 05 08 11 12 on both Monday Nov-24-2014 and Sunday Nov-30-2014. Always thought it was just chance, but, after reading this article, not so sure. The first occurrence was on a Monday and then the duplicate on the following Sunday. Could PA Lottery swapped out the machines and/or did maintenance that reset some parameters. Definitely wondering now. 11/24/14 Winning Numbers: 02 05 08 11 1

Odds are, stunning coincidences can be expected
Lotteries show that through sheer numbers, the uncanny happens; in Bulgaria, the same combination won twice in one week History isn't supposed to repeat itself in the lottery. But earlier this month, a 1-in-5.2 million shot came through in Bulgaria, as the same six winning numbers turned up in two consecutive drawings. And 18 Bulgarians profited by betting on recent history: They chose the winning combination of numbers from the drawing four days earlier which hadn't been selected by anyone t
