Stolen lottery money returned to real winners
Four school board employees, allegedly cheated out of their winning lottery ticket by a retailer who claimed the prize money as his own, received a check for $5.7 million plus interest Wednesday from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
The check came as Ontario Provincial Police announced they had charged Hafiz Malik, a 60-year-old former convenience store owner with theft and fraud following an investigation into insider wins at the OLG.

After a four-year investigation, Burlington, North Carolina, Police charged two men and have warrants drawn on a third in connection to a butter and egg lottery operation.

A nurse's aide faces a larceny charge after she allegedly stole a winning $3,125 lottery ticket from an elderly town woman who cares for physically and mentally handicapped children in her home.

Clerk tricks lotto winner, pockets money
A man who went to a 7-Eleven in Roseville, Calif., to check on his lottery tickets had picked the right numbers, but state officials said it was the clerk who almost hit the jackpot.
The female clerk told the customer he won $4 on his Mega Millions picks for Aug. 14, and then pocketed his winning ticket worth $555,000, California Lottery officials said.
However, the clerk's alleged scheme fell apart after the unnamed victim became suspicious and called lottery officials.
