Georgia Lottery board member resigns citing pressure to hire new director
A member of the Georgia Lottery Board resigned last week because she thought the panel was feeling pressured to hire the governor's budget director to run one of the country's most successful lotteries.
Frances Rogers, who has served on the board since late 2010, said she hung up the phone in the middle of a conference call to discuss a new lottery president last week and immediately resigned.

Alford named sole finalist to lead Georgia Lottery
The sole finalist to lead the Georgia Lottery is the state's top budget official, Debbie Dlugolenski Alford, officials said Tuesday.
The acknowledgement confirmed a report last week by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Alford was a leading candidate to replace Margaret DeFrancisco as president of one of the country's most successful lotteries.

Georgia Lottery president/CEO announces retirement
Georgia Lottery Corp. President and CEO Margaret R. DeFrancisco announced publicly today that she will be retiring from her full-time position as head of the Lottery.
The Georgia Lottery's board of directors will conduct a search for DeFrancisco's replacement. She plans to stay through the transition, and a departure date is not imminent or immediate.

Vermont Lottery appoints new Executive Director
Greg Smith, an executive with The Vermont Country Store, has been tapped to head the Vermont Lottery, replacing retiring Lottery Executive Director Alan Yandow.
Smith will take over the operation on June 7.

Maryland Lottery Director says online sales coming

The Maryland Lottery hopes to have its online lottery sales platform up and running by January 1, 2013.
Lottery Director Stephen Martino tells WBAL Radio that the Maryland legislature approved $500-thousand for the lottery to start up the program and hire some additional staff.

Vermont Lottery director to step down
The Vermont Lottery Commission today announced that long-time Executive Director Alan Yandow would not seek another biannual appointment to the position.
After nearly fourteen years as Executive Director, and working with three governors, Yandow will leave state service.
Yandow said, I step down from one of the most interesting positions in state government. It has been an honor and pleasure to serve the State of Vermont and lottery players over the last fourteen years .

Arkansas Lottery Commission picks new director
The Arkansas Lottery Commission picked Bishop Woosley, the lottery's chief legal counsel, to be the state's new lottery director.
The nine-member commission made the decision at the end of a day-long meeting Saturday at its headquarters in downtown Little Rock, after interviewing Woosley and six other candidates, lottery spokeswoman Julie Baldridge said.

Ohio's interim lottery chief given official title
Dennis R. Berg has been named director of the Ohio Lottery, Gov. John Kasich announced on Friday.
Berg had been the lottery's interim director since Jan. 10, 2011, appointed to that role just days after Kasich took office.
Berg formerly served as the lottery's deputy director of finance and has worked for the state agency since 1991.
The lottery has had 10 straight years of sales growth, posting a record $2.6 billion in sales in fiscal 2011.

Ark. lottery panel puts new limits on chief's pay
The Arkansas Lottery Commission, in an attempt to deflect criticism it received in the past for former top officials' six-figure salaries, set new salary limits Monday for its next director.
The commission voted to set the maximum salary for the next director at $175,000. The nine-member commission plans to begin interview candidates this weekend for the opening left by former director Ernie Passailaigue, who resigned in September after criticism over his management of the games.
