A man who won $1 million from the California Lottery on Wednesday in Millbrae paid for the winning Scratcher ticket using a $20 bill he found on the ground.
The lucky Bay Area man, Hubert Tang, found the $20 bill on a street outside of San Francisco International Airport on Wednesday. He then used it to purchase two $1,000,000 Jackpot! Scratchers tickets from Andrea's Market, located at 1601 El Camino Real in Millbrae.

Calif. gas station off the hook in lottery ticket probe
A Palmdale, California, gas station employee who mistakenly gave $75 to an undercover state compliance officer instead of advising him that he was the holder of a lottery ticket worth $75,000 did not commit fraud, lottery officials said Thursday.

The search is on for a lottery winner in California who walked away with a much smaller prize than he actually won.
A man who went to cash out his Wild West Poker scratch-off lottery ticket at a Palmdale, California, gas station was given $75, but his ticket was actually worth $75,000.

A California Lottery winner lost out on the opportunity to claim his $1 million Powerball prize after he misplaced his ticket.
The man saw news reports about himself buying the ticket in Rosemead and came forward, saying he was the winner, KABC-TV reported. But, he said, he lost his ticket.
Because Powerball rules require the winner to produce the actual winning ticket, he was ineligible to collect his winnings, California Lottery spokesman Alex Traverso said.
