Customer service survey.

I have e-mailed my state (IL) lottery a few times and never got a response.

If you vote, please indicate your state and their response quality so we can get an idea of who the "players" are here....the state or the lottery player?

It's not enough to give a "contact us" link on their web site unless they are going to respond.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response, Mike.  It could be because TN is a new lottery.  IL goes back to '72 and maybe is getting lax in its service.  However they are still using ping pong balls and running a fair lottery so I'm not complaining directly about them.  In fact I love the IL lottery whether they answer my e-mails or not.

PA has usually been really good about responding to my e-mails, except for when I e-mailed them, giving them my idea to use ball machines for the mid-day daily number and big 4 drawings, but make the video available online instead of televising them to save money. it's about as cost-effective, yet players know the drawings are legitimate, so they will pump more money into them, proving to be more profitable for the lottery.

I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

Maryland gave me a responce within 24 hrs of sending. on more than one occasion. In order to get a response from them you must read the emailing rules.

one of the rules = ( please put your email address in the body of the email.)

Thanks for that info four4me.  IL might have the same rule and I know I haven't included my e-mail in the text of the message...that might be the problem.

I always figured you could just hit the 'reply' button.  That's what it's there for isn't it?

Very true Rick but my guess is they don't have quailed people who run the web site. And from checking the employment listings for certain jobs you only need minimum computer skills to work for them. Unless of course you are applying for a high paying job. My guess is some of the employees there are at or just above minimum wage. So the requirements to be employed are must have GED or equivalent. And or equal work related employment in a similar field.

beats me why they have the rule for return mail. Unless they want it for record keeping to investigate threats. I have heard people whom work there say that they receive all kinds of email threats because their numbers didn't come out or they are rigging/fixing the games etc. So apparently the field a lot of negative email and they might use peoples email addresses to block certain e mailers from contacting them.

Most of my emails to them were about updating their press release part of the web site when days or weeks go by without them letting us know where certain winning tickets were purchased.

four4me, My e-mails to them have also been "technical" in nature with the exception of asking them not to go to computer-generated games.  Your reasons for them wanting your e-mail in the text make a lot of sense...I bet they get a lot of bitchin' e-mails.

I save my bitchin' for LP...

I have emailed Illinois's lottery at least a dozen times with no response. Email address included in at least five of the emails. If Illinois goes to computers then I will walk.

Army then i would suggest calling them and asking why your emails to them have gone un answered. There might be a problem with their email server or the person who fields the emails might not be on the job any more. Or the email address box is full in which case it would be lost in cyberspace. In any dvent call them and ask what's up with that.

The Washington lottery is an email black hole lately. Of course we didn't even know who the governor was until enough dead people had been counted in the last poll. So maybe they were just worrying about that.

                              Rick,

I have e-mailed the IL lottery twice and have gotten a response each time.  However, the person replying to the e-mail didn't quite understand my question and responded with information I already know.  My question was,

"My question relates to the number of tickets paid out for any given game i.e.,  if the winning number is 123 how many tickets received the straight payout, how many tickets received the boxed payout?"

                              They reponded -

"it is on our website- just two clicks away - home page click 'winning numbers' scroll and next to Pick3/4 click 'ways to win"

I wrote another e-mail and rephrased my question and got this reponse.

"we do not - and would have no way- to track that information.. in Pick 3 you have wins starting at $25 and up - all $600 and under prizes are paid cash at lottery retailers- those cannot be tracked -neither can knowing if they were box, straight, etc.. "

How could they not track this information, it's all done with a computer!
