Many of you use systems and numerical analysis.  Just look at the Lottery Systems folder on these message forums  And there are a lot of smart  lottery players on these forums.  But most of the actual jackpot winners use quickpicks.  For crying out loud, even Jack Whittaker played $100 worth of quick picks on that fateful Monday morning before Christmas 2002.  So which do you prefer, and what is your reasoning?  Because don't forget, whether you play $1 Quick Pick like Visiondude or if you study the numbers like RjOH, in the end, the numbers have to pick you and you will either "Get Rich or Die Tryin".  The most important thing about the lottery is WINNING THE JACKPOT, not how you win it !!!

Smart lottery winners form trust to claim their winnings.  They send an attorney to the lottery headquarters to claim the prize in trust, so that ONLY the name of the trust is revealed.  And they tell NO ONE, especially relatives.

If you ever win a lottery and you are single, the only person you should ever marry is someone who was truly in love with you BEFORE you won the jackpot!

This definitely seems to be important question for which there seems to be clear answer. Life is based on hope. The world is based on hope. Things will improve. World may be a better place tomorrow. There will be cure for some diseases tomorrow which have no cure tomorrow. Some of these hopes come true and some of these not
In my opinion folks who use lottery systems to play lottery are hoping that it will work some day. May be it will work and may be it will never work. Players who use QP are trying to play against enormous odds and think that may be their day will come. Players who use systems believe that may be their day will come before QP players. But who knows.
Based on current state of knowledge lottery numbers are random and there is no way to predict when and what numbers will come. The only thing that is sure that if players buy all the possible combinations then one of them is certain to win. Other than this all predictions are as good as QPs. I do not intend to say that prediction is impossible, what I am saying is currently it is not possible. 100 years ago no one would have ever thought that you can see some one who is 1000s of miles away on TV. But it happened one day and they day the numbers can be predicted lotteries will vanish.

        That's true

Ok .  IF you had to choose ONE, what would it be?

My own, only because I believe if it's meant to be then choosing my numbers is what will make it happen, and make it all the more worth wild that I did choose the winning numbers.

I also choose both, and implement my strategies based upon the current jackpot value. Curious as to how the majority of the major jackpot winners selected their numbers? Read their stories.

            http://www.powerball.com/powerball/pb_stories.asp

I believe I only saw about 1 or 2 that used their own numbers. The majority of the winners seemed to have played an average of $5-10 in QPs, and did not check their tickets for a few days. So I am following suit...I never question a winning strategy, but do start to question losing ones...

I doubt if any strategy that only pick $10 worth of tickets will ever compete favorable with $100 worth of quick picks over the long haul.  It hard to beat the odds.

The most important answer is not available in the poll: BOTH.
