I voted "no they would not work good together."  Well, they'd probably work well together, but I'd rather see them go with their own in-state lotteries.  IMHO, another multistate lottery wouldn't do well in the Southeast because of the competition from Powerball and Mega Millions.

I'd like to see Lotto Georgia return and replace Lotto South.

Absolutely not. I also think Lotto South should stop for good. I think each state should stay in their multi-state game, not have their own state lotto.

Well first off SC said no to any type of instate lotto game.  If anything SC and NC could merge and have "Carolina Lotto" or something like that.  GA and TN who knows.  At this point it's anyone's guess.  GA and VA may very well hang on to LS.

How are you going to win if you don't play?

I disagree.  I love to play the instate lotto games.  (Such as FL lotto)  I get so sick of MM and PB odds sometimes.  I know instate lotto game Jackpots aren't as high but I like the shot of winning atleast a million and not having to compete with other states.

I voted "Yes".  First off, Rebecca Paul at the Tennessee Lottery has probably the best experience of any of the lottery directors at putting together a multi-state game.  After all, she was one of the people who engineered The Big Game, which later became Mega Millions -- the biggest multi-state game ever.

Secondly, I think all those states have pretty good ties, although I can't imagine they're ever too happy when one of them steals an employee from another.  (Which seems to happen quite a bit.)

I would like to see Lotto South expand, if anything.

Maybe if Lotto South does well enough, we'll start to see other regional multi-state games, like a Lotto North or something.  I would love to see New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut get together on a multi-state game.  How great how that be?

Michigan and Ohio were planning a joint game. I have no idea if they're still considering it.

Lotto "South" would be cool if it was GA,SC,NC,TENN, and FL.

Aint gonna happen, but it would be a good game.......

I heard they are ending Lotto South which is bad, because I am sick of Powerball odds, I hardly play anymore.  I have been spending a ton on Lotto South which is pretty high right now.  I want Tenn to join Lotto South but I am not sure what is happening with it, whether it is changing or ending.  I know something is happening because you cant buy multiple draws on Lotto South and I have had to drive 2 hours twice a week to buy my tickets.  I guess KY won't be getting all that money anymore if LS ends.  On the positive side, I will save a bunch of money only buying 1-2 Powerball tickets.  I guess we will see what happens.

Changing the games makes it difficult on those of us who track the history of draws and take them into consideration when choosing what to play.  I'd rather see the games stay the same.

I don't like change for a different reason, I hate seeing the going ever higher.  However, I do wish TN would join a smaller multi-state lottery.  That would rock!!  Lotto South seems to be history, I think because GA is dropping out, if TN joined it would be great, but doubt that will happen.

No word yet if GA is dropping out.  VA and GA may very well stay with LS because they have MM on Tue and Fri.  Lotto South is Wed and Sat (Same as powerball for KY).  They need to make the drawings on Monday and Thurs so the "Big" JP games can have their drawings and the competition wouldn't be as strong.

How are you going to win if you don't play?

Sorry Boss, but I've got to respectfully disagree with ya on this one!   Big Grin

Lotto South has had the opportunity to prove itself, but it doesn't seem to be doing well.  Consider the following information:

"REPORT OF THE AUDIT OF THE KENTUCKY LOTTERY CORPORATION

                              http://www.kylottery.com/annual_report/2005-2004KYLotteryaudit.pdf

In September 2001, the KLC introduced Lotto South as a replacement game for Lotto Kentucky.  The KLC
participates in this game with the Georgia and Virginia lotteries.  The increased population base allows for higher and faster growing jackpots than the KLC could generate on its own. Despite those attributes, Lotto South sales for 2005 continued to decline to $17.5 million, $6.4 million or 26.6% less than 2004 sales and $2.5 million less than quota.  Lotto South sales for 2004 were $23.9 million, $.6 million or 2.5% less than 2003 sales, but $3.1 million above quota.

Currently Known Facts, Decisions, or Conditions

A change to the Powerball game in August 2005 should generate higher jackpots, which in turn should
generate higher sales for the Corporation.  A change to the Lotto South game is planned for the third
                              quarter of FY 2006."

                              "Georgia Lottery 2004 Annual Report

                              http://www.galottery.com/uploads/LotteryReportList/LotteryReport/27/FY04AR.pdf

Lotto South sales increased $2.2 million in 2004 to $76.1 million compared to $73.9 million in 2003. Lotto
South is a multi-state pari-mutuel lottery game operated with two other states; Kentucky and Virginia. Drawings are held twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  Lotto South produced only one jackpot over $20 million in both fiscal years 2003 and 2004. During fiscal year 2004, Lotto South had ten winning jackpots as compared to thirteen winning jackpots in fiscal year 2003.  The decreased frequency of winning jackpots in fiscal year 2004 resulted in an average jackpot of $11 million versus an average jackpot of $9 million in 2003.  Historically, higher advertised jackpots generate increased incremental draw sales...
