Unclear on what you are trying to do.

Do you want to add or remove programs???

If so, then go to control panel & work from there.

It shouldn't get rid of anything you're not looking to get rid of.

The icons on the desk top are for quicker access--at least, that's why I have mine there.

Sounds like you need to download a registry repair tool to diagnose what problems exist.  Go to http://www.download.com/ and look up the System Utilities.  I believe the Registry Mechanic tool will do a diagnostic scan.

The best way to do this is if you are going to wipe programs off your hard drive is to make a back up of all those programs on Floppy Disk first! Put the programs you want to save on floppy then you can reload the ones you want to keep back onto your computer after the clean!

I just purchased ERROR DOCTOR for 39.95. It is worth it. I had over 300 errors due to many months of downloading and removing programs.

I also recommend ad-aware, trend micro spy removal, and Spy Doctor. Also try Spybot. All of that list I just wrote is free except for Spy doctor, and error doctor. Best of all I found a link which got rid of eacceleration from my memory. Spybot had no way of removing it. Slowed up my comp.

            Good luck.

It is not possible to tell what you want by what you have said.

It might be best to get a local person to help you.

Don't you know somebody home who can help you?

Otherwise go to the public library and read a book or books about computers and or Windows, become computer literate.

It would be easier to help you by talking straight to you, but Todd does not have a voice chatroom here, you need to talk to somebody in real time, either by person or computer, try somebody here from your state of Va who might be close to your city.

Best is to find somebody from your town to help you.

                    Good luck.

If you can make it here this is a good beginning for a virus scan and cleaning for free.  First link should get you there.  Also when done download their cool web search shredder which is free.

                      http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

They have discontinued doing free spyware scans and cleaning.

                      Good luck to everyone!

Anyone out there know how to remove eacceleration? I tried Spybot search and destroy, but it says that it can't get rid of it because it's running in memory. I've tried just about every spyware cleaner out there to no avail.

I even searched the net and found a tool that claims to get rid of it. But when I ran spybot to see if the tool really worked, I was dissapointed to see it show up again.

                        Thanx in advance.

Use "msconfig" to run only the necessary programs, then run Spybot or ad-aware or your anti-virus or all of them!  I have found that Spybot misses some things that ad-aware does not.

I agree 100%.  A number of people have given their suggestions, but I don't see how they can say those things without knowing a LOT more.

Thanx calif, I have ad-aware and a couple of others like error doctor and spy doctor. They don't even recognize it's presence. Spybot is the only one that sees it.

As far as msconfig, that's in DOS and I don't have a clue to what I have to write in there.
