I highly recommend OpenOffice v2.X.  It's free.  OpenOffice Calc is every bit as good as Excel (in my opinion).  In fact, I think OpenOffice is superior to Microsoft Office.

Thanks Lottofan!

    Thanks Lottofan!

I will say this again, and then I will shut up about it.  If you have contracted some adware, spyware or virus and you do not rid yourself of it and ensure your system is clean, it won't matter how many new applications from everyone and anyone you load they will eventually meet the same fate as EXCEL or worse, probably blue screen will be next.  I am not talking from a distance, I am talking from personal experience and client experience.

This is from the what's worth department.  Probably not much but there you are.  You know an ounce of prevention, I believe you know the rest.

Have somebody repartition your hard drive into 2 parts, have that person format both of them parts, do a clean install of Windows into the first partition and then re-install all the drivers and programs that you meed and want into it, once that is done, have that person back-up that partition or Windows into the other empty partition.

Then have that person show you how to restore that backup into the working partition when-ever you might need to in the future.

Also have  that person show you how to back-up Windows into that partition if you want to do any more future back-ups and or to replace the first back-up with newer back-ups.

Always keep 2 backups in there, the fresh first-one and the last one, never delete the first back-up but replace the second back-up at least once a month.

That would keep your Pc safe.

Make friends with somebody who knows how to do these things, or push a relative of yours to learn how to do these things, so later he or she can help you,  that is unless you want to learn yourself, go to the library and read a book on it or look for the info here on the internet, but it is best to have somebody teach you about it, a local person, it is very hard to teach from a distance just by typing words, but not impossible.

If nothing else, just do a clean Windows install and then re-install everything, but be very carefull as you will lose some oof your hardware and software drivers, those drivers need to be backed up first into a CD for safe keeping and later re-installation.

Always also back-up your drive'rs just in case.

      Back-up particular files for free:

EXCALIBUR is no more that "Handle" is dead, gone.
Maybe sometime in the future I might come back as LANTERN again, but maybe not, if I don't come back as LANTERN in the future then I won't come back at all, but as I said there is no more EXCALIBUR.

This is very very good, applies also to any Windows version not just WinXP.
