I'd like to think the Monterey, California area, especially for the "summers" (nice and cool there usually, I hate hot weather) - but in reality, I'd probably go to someplace no one would ever expect a jackpot winner to go.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

      Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I think this has come up before and it is interesting to hear the choices.

For me,  The Netherlands, Singapore, Guam, Scotland, England, Brazil, Palma Spain, Ibiza Spain, Thailand, Russia or Ukraine, Nova Scotia and a few other places I remember. Wouldnt mind making a Cruise around the world on a nice cruise ship.

         Good Luck,

First stop for me is Spain for a while, fresh off a win Im going to give

a shot at that El Gordo which is a game that turns me on.  Then Amsterdam

for a bit.  Vegas has always been one of my favorites but not necessarily

for the gambling but the warm misquito free evenings, walking down the strip

with liquor in hand and the party's that end when the sun comes up (and some

not even then)  Florida or Georgia seems to be good states to retire in but

there will be plenty of time for that later  Yes Nod

Interesting question.  The amount I won would make a huge difference, but I honestly have no clue.  One thing I know for sure is that I'd move out of this dump.  If any good comes out of a bad living experience, it's appreciating the little things...like having 2 bathrooms, something I haven't lived with in years.  What's a dishwasher?  LOL  One late night I was surfing and came across a development in Central America (think it was Belize) for the environmentally conscious. It was far from cheap, but the homes were in natural, pristine jungle settings. I always thought that would be something I'd enjoy until I read that they don't have air conditioning or central plumbing (compost toilets) and so many other conveniences.  So I guess I'm not as much of a conservationist as I'd like to believe.  I don't like to sweat!

I really love peace and quiet, especially at night. However, if I could find the perfect spot and price didn't matter, I know I'd enjoy living part of the year in Manhattan. I'm just not sure I could deal with all the hustle and bustle of the city, but that used to excite me.  With lots of extra time & money, I'd sure enjoy seeing many of the Broadway and off-Broadway plays and going to the Philharmonic.  But I'd also like a home in the mountains of Western NC.  I haven't seen a mountain in a long time.  (I had a septic in my backyard once, but that doesn't count.)  On the other hand, as much as I whine about the humidity, the bugs and the steamy weather here, I think I would miss the beach.  So I might also look for a nice spot near the water, maybe in the Charleston SC area. For a long time I wanted to leave this country, but I've done my share of traveling, and as Dorothy said to Toto "There's no place like home."

As I finish writing, I need to remember that I always say my first thought would be to adopt a couple of older children who need a family.  So maybe I'd just buy a large no-kill farm or ranch with horses and pet goats.  As I started out when I began answering this question, I simply have no clue!!

I would continue to live in my home of residence, but I would definetly do some traveling and would probally have a winter home somewhere because it is so damn cold in Alaska. I always wanted to go to Hawaii or Mexico, and the Caribean or Central America would be nice. Then I would definetly like to go down to M.I.A.M.I. But Money Is a Major Issue!!!!!!!  As usual Just holding on like a hub cap in the fast lane.  I sure would like to start planning if my numbers hit Saturday!

I'm with you,Coin Toss! Monterey was the first place I thought of. Been there many times, most recently a year ago. Nothing like waking up with the waves crashing just outside and that cool breeze. My second choice would be anywhere it's cool because I hate the hot weather too!

Primary residence: I would be Tiger Woods new neighbor in FL...

I would also like a home in Vegas for playing , one in Colorado ( Telluride or Aspen ) for relaxing, and one in Montana on 500 acres just to get the F away from it all....

                    Ah.... Dreams....they are so cool....

I would continue to live here where I am..

I would continue to work as a teacher.  Although I had rather open up my own private school. Free to those who qualify.

Are you talking about Asheville, NC?  It's suppossed to be a really nive place - one of those "cities that no one knows the location of" - Evansville, Indiana is another...

I know people that lived in Belize, they said it's a little "too pink"

                          (leans towards communism)

I lived in Monterey for almost two years. Woke up in the morning and could hear the seals barking down in the bay. Monterey and "the cloud that hangs over the bay" have an agreement- the cloud 'never leaves' and the summers are nice and cool.

I think we only turned the heat on in Jan through March, and the rest of the year it was just open windows. Our landlord had never owned a car with air conditioning.

I was there in the Army and would have loved to stayed but at the time the only jobs were at the sugar plant in Salinas.

Every summer now though, I kick myself in the butt for having left. I always joke that in the next life, given the chance to live there again, I wouldn't leave.

Is everybody enjoying this thread as much as I am? I mean most here aren't really talking low profile....Spain, Vegas, etc....

Blackie, you've got me a little worried that someone would hit a jackpot and go to Russia!

Coin Toss, Those places I mentioned are some of the places I've been. Russia and Ukraine ( formally Russia ) are quite nice and things don't cost much. The people I met were all nice as well. Can't say alot for the Russian Mafia or the Government but the average folks are just like anyone else. I wouldn't go to live just visit again.

I travel to Mexico often, so I would have to say I would get a nice villa perched on a cliff overlooking the bay just outside of Puerto Vallarta.  And the plus would be that the cost of living would be much less than it currently is in Florida!
