This has been a planned enhancement for a long time -- ever since I put those mysterious stars on the upper-left corner of each topic.

I am finally finished with the new enhancement to the ratings that lets you see who rated the topic, and what they gave it.

The final piece that I have been [frankly] obsessing with is the popup window control used to display the ratings.

From way back when I originally came up with the ratings, I wanted to use the display of the ratings as an opportunity to build a generic popup window control for Lottery Post, which I could then use for anything requiring a popup window (not just the ratings).

I want to create it using DHTML, which is a technique that simulates a window, but is really just layering a square piece of content over top of the other content.  The benefit to this approach is that the DHTML popup windows cannot be blocked by a popup blocker, and I can make them work the same, no matter what brand of web browser you use.

Well, the short story is I finally finished, and I came up with what I think is a really cool design.

For anyone who has used Windows Vista, you may recognize a resemblance of the new popup windows to Vista's popup windows, including transparent "glass" frame and distinctive shadow.  I developed a very cool way of simulating that same look, using my own new technique.  I've never seen it used anywhere, so maybe there is another technical article on the way, it depends if I get time.

A bonus is that people with less-capable web browsers -- specifically IE 6 or lower -- can see popup windows, but just don't get all the cool effects.  Maybe it's a good incentive to upgrade to IE7!

It also has a cool feature that keeps the popup window stationary, even if you scroll the main window.  You can even resize the window by dragging the lower-right corner, as well as the customary moving of the window itself by dragging the titlebar.

Can you tell I'm really happy with how it came out?  I hope you are too!

Cheers

Any way of fixing or deleting a rating you gave a thread?

No, ratings are permanent, so it's best to try to avoid impulse ratings.

Here is what I got when I double clicked the stars on one of Lucky's post:

Don't double-click anything.  There are two ways to view the ratings:

                      1. After you rate a topic (by clicking ONCE on the amount of stars YOU want to rate it), after the rating is saved, the next time you click it you will see everyone's ratings.
                      2. When viewing the topic listings (the forum page), you can click on any of the ratings (next to the titles of the topics) and it will show you.

Mike, YES, it shows the names.

Read my last post.  Double-clicking is bad, because you're not really in control of unintended effects.  Only single-click things.

I think you're mistaking the slight pause for nothing happening.  Just click once.  The only reason you would click a total of two times is if your first click is to rate the topic, and the second click to view the ratings.
