For a while I pinned some of the e-mails to my wall, so I could get my mind used to the fact that I would trudge on toward my visions and goals without being held back by some people who had a different vision of what things should be like.

You're right...It'll morph into something that will be a shortcut to a descision. That tagging with the key word feature will be good too, because It'll narrow it down even further.

Edgewater resort in Naples? If so...I know exactly where that is....LOL

But you never know, Florida has a tendency to name multiple locations by the same name. And very close by to boot.

We have 3 developments here called "Village walk". Who thought that was a good idea? Now I have to ask the customers which one are you going to.....LOL

For those keeping score at home, I have now completed changes to the Active Topics page to add the same features and layout that exists on the new forums pages -- including ratings!

Do you have any plans of changing the background of the ratings box? The white box on a beige background stands out more than it might need to, and tends to be a distraction. Thumbs Up

A mind once stretched by a new idea never returns to its original dimensions!

I did not have any plans on changing it, but I'll certainly take another look.

Todd,  The feature is great.  There are some posts I read from posters everyday, but do not comment on how well I enjoy the post. This way one click will let them know I like it.. Thanks..

Thanks for the comment.  That is indeed a very good use of ratings -- as an observer of a topic, rather than a participant.

Lets see if I got this right.

I tried some trial and error.

When I open the forum like pick 3 or any other. The topics that have been rated will show on the forum page. I can click the star rating and get who voted without my vote registering.

When I open a topic that has been rated and I have not voted on that topic  I will put my browser arrow on the stars. Putting the arrow on the stars when I have not voted will not show how many rated the topic. When I run the browser arrow back and forth across the stars they will light up where my browser arrow stops on the stars and then I vote. Then I can see who rated the topic after I vote.
If I have previously rated a topic I can open that topic and put my browser arrow on the stars and open who have voted that topic without casting another vote.

                          All in a nutshell

                          Open a topic:
Must vote before seeing who rated the topic you have opened .

Topic rating on forum page: Can open the rating on who rated it without casting a vote.

Thank you for posting that summary, very well said.

Based on feedback I'll be adding a little helper tip and a few other things to spell it out clearly on the page.

But I also want to make sure it's clear that the way the control functions right now is standard for Internet forums.  When I build a new feature, if that feature exists on other Internet forums I try to mimic the behavior so that people will not have to learn something new.

Sometimes existing standards are not perfect, in which case i make adjustments to what I think will help.  That's obviously the case here.

Also keep in mind that the ratings have existed for months, and this is the first time I have heard any feedback.
