does age play a factor when winning the jackpot?

for instance.is a 40 or 50 year old person better off in handling their money than a 20 or maybe 30 year old would be.the younger you are the more likely you are to blow it all foolishly?

i think so too.had i won a jackpot in my twenties i'd be dead of a drug overdose easily.being broke so much back then taught me a lot about how to respect and manage money.i think people that have never had much will be more thrifty when it ever does come a time when they do have it.

How old someone is when they win defintiely plays a factor when winning a jackpo - exceptions to every riule of course, a la Jack you know who.

Things you'd buy in your twenties, for example, you probably wouldn't even be interested in later on.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Great topic. And to answer, most definitely! Coin Toss nailed it, I certainly wouldn't be spending my money on the latest record albums, concerts and movie posters like I did in my teens and 20's. (Whoops,am I showing my age? Records?!! What are those??) Nowadays it would be necessities and nest eggs.

I don't think so at all. I think in any case, young or old, it depends on the individual person, NOT how old they are. I can think of plenty of 40 something year olds that would be very foolish with money, while I can think of plenty of 20 something year olds who would probably make it double.

I dont think age is a factor for doom ....

I have a son who bought a house, 2003 vehicle all in 2002, without any help.  He just manages his money well..

On the other hand, my daughter could spend the jackpot in one year.

It has to do with common sense...

                  Here is an example

Each of the two were told they could have $2500 each.

My daughter has come to me daily for $100.. She is down to $1000 in less than a month.

                  My son hasn't said anything.

I don't think age has anything to do with  winning the lottery. I know an older couple that worked with me  won the fanasty 5 here in georgia a couple of years ago they are in there 55 to 60 range .they bought cars and a lot of stuff they really did not need and now they are struggling the cars got repod and there home was almost fore closed .no matter how old we are if we don't put this cash to good use when and if we win you can find yourself  BROKE AGAIN!!

One day I will Hit BIG!!

while some older people might have reached the age of reasoning it doesn't mean they will have any more ability to handle money than they did when they were younger.

Money does strange things to people and having more of it in ones hand then they have ever had before can lead to all sorts of calamity.

many people today are living from pay check to pay check. then all of the sudden they win the lottery real big. No doubt in my mind that the overall majority of them will spend till it causes problems in their lives.

Few winners might get by with a little or no problems.

I checked "yes" too quickly.  I was thinking that age makes a difference in how you invest the money.  However, I totally agree that it depends on the person.

Seeing that no one under the age of 50 ever seems to win these jackpots, I think this question is moot.
