Are you trying to say playing and winning a lottery game, even a jackpot game is more a matter of skill than luck?  If the states only had an edge of 1:2-1:5 of keeping your money, I might think that was possible, but the odds of breaking even are 1:10 or higher let alone making a profit.  Unless you're lucky enough to win a jackpot, you lose if you play for any reasonable length of time.

I could be wrong but I have never seen any figures that prove other wise.

Yes I think it is a matter of skill to win frequently in any lottery game.

Probably no figures out there. If we were able to draw stats from the lotteries on prizes wether they were pick your own or quick picks would be of great help.

Maybe  if the stats also shown where the pick your own were from could locate a systems player on those consistant 3 of 5 or 4 of 5 winners.

all we see are the jackpot stats on win type.

You really do not see many postings by pick 5 players who may be winning regulary. Probably for obvious reasons.

Since 3of5 and 4of5 are usually unsigned and paid by local retailers,I wouldn't expect there to be any data compiled to support your theory that winning is a matter of skill.  I was thinking more along the line of a strategy or theory which could be tested in simulations using a list of previous winners from various lotteries.

So far no one has produced a theory or strategy that works even in a simulation where money is not a limit.

Think of P-3 in these terms.

Instead .....Pick 990 numbers that will not hit on the next draw.

If none of your 990 picks don't hit....you WIN!

Now try 980 numbers that won't hit... or even 975 numbers. It's hard to hide 975 numbers !

Try that for a little while.  LOL

Now it gets a little more clear doesn't it?

              ** and yet....

some folks believe they can beat the same game playing the other way. That's really funny cause its really the same thing you know.

        You're absolutely right:

Most people don't play enough Winning Numbers to Make a Profit at Pick 3!

You can Pick 999 Losing Numbers by accident,

but you can't Pick 1 Winning Number on purpose!
        LOL!

There's one major flaw there - anyone who can put up 990, 980, 975, etc. on a Pick 3 doesn't need to be playing Pick 3.

Some people reading this would think, "Oh, these guys have it figured out, I'll just play more" - and go broke real quick.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Vegas saying: You bet your mind you lose your mind.

Not all the lurkers and others here will have seen the "think in these terms aspect"

Storybook indeed, as in "Once upon a time I read if you played more numbers you'd win! So I went to the bank and ......"

A long time ago there was a discussion on 5 /30 games and someone said with odds that "low" they'd borrow the money, play all the combos, and guarantee a jackpot.  Nice idea if, and only if, you could guarantee a solo jackpot- multiple winners and you hit a jackpot and are still stuck.

And there are those who could play 999 pick 3 combos and still lose!

              Green laugh

"What's your system I've heard about Clancy?"

"Well, I put in 990 pick 3's, and then go to the casino and play roulette - I bet all the numbers except 0 and 00. I'm a $5 bettor so it costs me $180 to make the bet. If I win I win $175, if 0 or 00 hits I lose $180 - but hey, the casino gives me a lot of comps, they must love the way I play."

Coin Toss.... if you think your post is off subject ... watch this.

Once upon a time there was a awful drought in a kingdom far far away.  One day a parched  Raven flying far above spotted a large vase that had been thrown away....  The vase still had a little water in it  left over from the last rain.  Too bad for the Raven...because the water was just out of his reach toward the bottom of the vase. It was just too far for him to stretch his neck.

What to do?  What could he do ?

The Raven thought hard and long. Finally it came to him. He flew away and came back with a single smooth pebble and then carefully dropped it into the vase. He did this many times using more and more pebbles that day. Toward the end of the day....the water at the bottom of the vase had risen up far enough for the Raven to have a long cool drink.

He flew off thinking to himself ......  "if only people would play pick 3 llike that."   LOL

That's the Grimm Fairy Tale version of the Story:

                  What really happened was:

The rate of evaporation of the water was faster than the Raven could add pebbles to the Vase, so at the end of the Day the Raven had NO COOL long drink, but instead a Vase FULL of pebbles. LOL!

This is a good discussion.  I have tried both ends, progressive and also waiting for days/weeks for hot/due #'s that looked solid.  I think the numbers should tell you when to work which system.

Hell.... no body protected me from all these different methods in the beginning .....and I lost plenty getting an education. If they don't stop and think and read ..... what are we to do ?

Oh, probably some of the same folks who bet $1725 to win $100 on Tyson  when he fought Buster Douglas in Japan....heard people talking about Tyson being a lock don't you know.

Whatever, we're certainly entertaining the lurking lottery commission people if no one else.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

These helpless... hopeless people... who are they ? Who are we trying to protect here? Where are these dim persons?  Where are they?  Point out these silly players that need to be shielded from a generalized game strategy conversation.

Hell.... no body protected me from all these different methods in the beginning .....and I lost plenty getting an education. If they don't stop and think and read ..... what are we to do ?

We all had to pay our dues ......

We can't have a conversation about fixing our car engine or our brakes because some dunderhead might try it and break his car?  LOL   Please....

Sorry, that just seems a pretty weak thing to get hung up on.... and shut down a topic for.

                            Win D,

I'm with you, I understand exactly what you are saying. Yesterday , I use Expert Lotto for Cash 3. The Segment Sums 13,17,22,23 were all overdue. I played 13 numbers, some from each Sum, to capture the 864 ,str8. There is no way I could/would have picked that combo from the list to play 3 or 4 numbers. The whole list was much the same in skips.
