Well, you guys said positivity attracts positive things and negativity attracts negative things. Then, well...did victims of vicious crimes were...ASKING FOR IT?
And pumpi76, you don't sound like a science guy. And you have a horribly wrong idea about Asia. Nations in ancient Asia were periodically struck by famine and other natural disasters, and cannibalism was not uncommon in places like China. Yes, ancient Asians suffered horrible things caused by poverty, too.
And you sound like some Southern Hick.
I think it's time to close this thread. Not productive or constructive at all. Most of all off topic. IMHO.

Your ability to be confused is astounding. There's no doubt that positive thinking can lead to positive results, and negative thinking can lead to negative results, but there's seldom a guarantee. No matter how positive your outlook is about winning the lottery, your actual chances are determined by probability. If somebody has a negative outlook and thinks they may become a victim of a crime, then they may make themselves an easier target, but they don't do it on purpose. Is there any chance that you can grasp that making yourself a target isn't "asking for it."

I said i wasn't going to write anything back but i am writing it to teach the world...
i look the definition of hick and it says that is a: "unsophisticated, borish provincial person"....
I rather be the poorest person unsophisticated vagabond and believe in science than to be the richest sophisticated person and be lost to the road of perdition which is the lack of belief of science....
Provincial person i don't know what that means but if it means a country person will like to remind you that what is it 90% of the people in the world live in the country/interior of country...
Christ said: "love your brother as yourself" and go beyond your way to help others, not try to critizes the people of the country/interior of the country...
i don't know why but if there is one out of a couple of words in the dictionary that i don't like is sophisticated, specifically when they are referring to a person and not technology...
again this is not a reply to you ambelamba, you are still an LP member to me this is just to teach the world something....Thanks for posting what you posted....

That is very true. To win take a lot of faith. A lot of winners say that too loose faith would be terrible. Good Luck to all and with Luck and Faith we can win!!

I guess you are into Christian Science.
On Topic: Some of you have read The Secret. I don't buy the claims of the book for a second. Positive thinking only affects your attitude and people's reaction. Things like lottery jackpot is completely out of the influence of positive thinking. It's all luck.
Off Topic: I am getting my BFA this May. The only science classes I took are for GE requirement. The biology class had a major impact on me because I was losing my faith in Jesus at that time and the lecturer was a fervent advocate of evolution without design. That class really shaped my view on life and humanity. I don't 'believe in' science. Science is not something that you believe in. You just know that it's the best way to explain things so far. Some jerks might bring up paranormal and supernatural mumbojumbos to discredit scientific method, but world goes around PRETTY WELL without thinking about anything supernatural. You can ignore anything paranormal and live a very fulfilling life.
It's kinda amusing to have Jesus and science in one paragraph. Most scientist DO NOT believe in personal god and they try to hide it because it will cut off funding from god-fearing financiers. That's the fact of life in US of A. What a beautiful country where more than half of people believe that Universe (or Earth itself) was formed in six literal days. And the same people believe that Jesus will return as the lord of the universe in their lives. And we have thousands of nuclear warheads. The rest of the world has all the right to look upon America with fear and contempt.
In my case, I was raised in a truly multi-religious society. And believe me. Witnessing a plethora of religions will make you truly areligious. They are all same <snip>. You stop caring about that.
And what's wrong with not having...Churches? Taoism and Buddhism are infinitely superior to Christianity. And I don't subscribe to those two beliefs so you can guess how I feel about anything related to Jesus.

"Taoism and Buddhism are infinitely superior to Christianity"
I don't know what taoism and buddhism teach but i doubt it though Christianity i wish they change some...Remember everything that i said? Well up to this day there is no church started that will teach what i said on the previous post....
What messes up Christianity is that part of Jesus coming again about going and worshiping and believing in the cure of diseases through prayer instead of donating to help in something...That's what's wrong with Christianity and the stupidity war that they have in the middle east over some land with israel....But sorry to contradict you but i doubt that taoism and buddism will ever be superior to Christianity....
Christianity has a lot of flaws....But Christianity has a lot of stuff that deals with the heart that i doubt taoism or buddism will have...If Christianity wasn't superior to taoism or buddism i will have said so...But i am affraid is not....But you wouldn't know because you haven't read the bible....
Anyways, more important is finding the Eternal Fountain of Youth, that will help humanity to cross the stars...And that the world come together [basically mix]....
this is my last post in this thread...

this is my last post in this thread...
my bad, i'll make this one my last post on this thread..
There might be a way that taoism/Buddhism could be superior to Christianity and that's by having a Bible but of sayings, wisdom sayings that teaches people good conduct and other stuff important in life, plus they borrow the best things from the Christian Bible and they give it a touch of cosmology about the cosmos and how how fragile we are in this universe and unique as humans and how we must prepare to cross the cosmos, plus everything that i mentioned on the previous posts on this thread, and that its followers must follow....And it will still need the Church or copy the church...And how much strive humans must do to find the eternal fountain of youth, and the worm hole to another location in the universe or another universe....
i don't believe in spirits and ghosts and that stuff....I also don't believe there is an after life but what i don't like is that if there is none the governments don't do anything to make your life enjoyable or at least when you retire or strive to find the eternal fountain of youth....
also something a lot of people don't see....there must be some kind of religion because i've seen anomalies of the western world or of caucasian people...They have a superiority complex because their world is richer and without religion and because of the features they posses and they might just try and unconsciously rule the world..."Remember Rome"....And up to this day there are western countries that believe that country comes first before religion and that the flag comes first before religion...There is a lot of things you DON'T SEE....UP to this height people still believe in western countries that race/features should come first before religion...And those are sins, they are evil things that most be overcome.....
But the thing is not to incorporate this wisdom sayings into taoism/Buddhism because that will entails a new endeveor into conquering continents again, instead the best thing to do is create a new religion just the say way i say in the western world and let it grow, that way it will get better acceptance....and the quickest way to achieve this is through some kind of monetary system where people gain points for joining the new religion, something like a school just like the school system...
Something else that people don't see is that the present religions of the world each is reflective of each race/feature...And no religion has tried to get people of different features/race/continents together....If school was a religion it will be the best religion and most dominant religion in the world...
religions of the world forget that features/race is such a powerful force that if not tried to integrate all the features/races, it will lead to WORLD WAR 3 or world war 4....that's a blind spot of religions...
