You should see my blog on probability. It's not NCEL stacking the odds, it is simply the odds!  I have more than passed Calculus and I am still trying to find out the number for "wedding", 'funeral", and "white". It takes all kinds and everyone isn't cut and dry. I say this all in friendly jest though. It's just the NC Pick 3 forum.

Wedding ------378   928

Funeral---------529   701

White-----------177

Assaults? Of course its NCEL stacking the odds...

"""""Odds in relationship to payout"""""!!!....a lower payout means you'll eventually not have enough money in the end..

    OK?

Sure, NC has very low payouts as compared to other states, well, I know for a fact lower than Georgia.  Even while tampering with the lottery it still doesn't change the fact that triples ARE rare and that your chance of hitting any given number straight is 1/1000. OK?

No thats innacurate...the 99.9%  Degree of Certainty for a given straight combination is 6049 draws..

Once again the over all population mistakenly believes the odds are 1/1000...

If the over all pick 3 population knew this figure they'd be less likely to play

There are 1,000 numbers to play 0-999. How do explain this 6049 figure?

Its only 1/1000 "IF" you play 1000 combinations this is where most peoples math runs amuck....

If you played 1000 combinations of course you'd win however you'd loose 500 bucks in doing so....this is why I said that about NCEL jackin the payout in thier favor...

The odds are NOT ONE IN A THOUSAND...!

Look at the Never Drawn list there is still almost 200 straight combinations that havent been drawn after 1700 draws...the Degree of certainty for that given straight combination goes up in relationship to draws ascending to that 6049 ....99.9* threshold...

You are talking about the worst case scenario...the number that hasn't been drawn EVER. You are saying that there is a 99.9% chance that the number will be drawn in at least 6049 draws. I understand that but hey, it can go that 0.1% and never come out!

What about the number that keeps repeating? That must factor in somewhere. We easily have a few numbers we see at least every 1 out of 200 draws...more than that sometimes!

What I am talking about is a blank slate. Let's pretend that each drawing is totally independent of the drawings before it, this makes the odds 1 out of 1,000 despite what has came out yesterday or the year before. I know we see certain trends, and these trends ARE real. But the probability of any given number coming out straight is 1 out of 1000 and not 1 out of 6049.

Also every state pays $500 for a straight dollar hit, not just NC. The lottery is SUPPOSED to make money. It's not 1 out of 1000 if you played every number, then it's 1000/1000 because you played every number. If there are 1000 numbers possible and you play every one of them you have a 100% chance of winning, but you're right about losing $500:)

Assault youre not listening but thats ok I'll explain it to you below..

The odds are only 1/1000 if you play 1000 combinations,ok...the odds do go up if you play pools of numbers like I do...

If you played one straight combination the 99.9% Degree of Certainty is  6049 draws...

                      Example: From 1000 combinations

                      10%----------------------------------------------  odds 105

                      25%-----------------------------------------------odds 287

                      50%-----------------------------------------------odds 692

                      75%-----------------------------------------------odds 1385

                      90%-----------------------------------------------odds 2301

                      95%-----------------------------------------------odds 2994

                      99%-----------------------------------------------odds 4602

                      99.9%------------------------------odds 6904

Todd I appreciate your reply. I myself have been arrogant and too projective at times. When I see someone giving advice on how to win the lotto by dream interpretation and the barking of dogs...etc this is a slap in the face to me givin all the hard work I do regarding statistics, plus when put to the test these types of pseudo-science mystical interpretations fail miserably in the court of scientific investigation...so for my part the most important thing is arriving at the truth..

So can you win using these types of approach...yes...but its mainly flat out luck and nothing more...what college student out there who is studying calculus would seek out the advice of a dream interpreter to understand a given algorithm?

Answer is they wouldn't....scientific investigation leads to the truth whether it be in the lotto or elsewhere this is just the plain and simple truth of the matter

When there are conflicting ideologies there is gonna be friction whether it be here or elsewhere its just human nature..

The Pick 3 lotto as well as other lottos is about adaptability and the ability to expand on statistical parameters to achieve that ever elusive winning prize.I have somewhat of a background in statistics and am more than willing to help anyone win without hesitation..

Most people who come here never realize that the odds are stacked against them by the greedy govt who runs the NCEL system and end up finally ruined in the end...this is the sad part..

Ive taken it on myself to see If I cant help some of those people because after all the lotto is just another unfair tax on the people..

                        Thank you!

The cracks you constantly make about people with "dream interpretation and the barking of dogs" is a slap in the face to everyone who does not buy into the whole "scientific" concept of number selection.  ("Scientific" is in quotation marks, since I doubt true scientists would touch any of your particular number methods with a ten foot pole.)

The concept of debating "my method vs. your method" is asinine, if you will pardon my frankness.  I'm not sure how you can claim that "their method" is pure luck, when you don't appear to get a hit every time either.  Perhaps YOU are just being lucky when you hit.

I don't understand your need to belittle someone else's methods of play.  Is it to make yourself look or feel better?  Or do you just feel an urge to put down other people with different viewpoints?

Note that I have never stated my own preference for number-picking, and note that I cater this site to EVERY method of number-picking, never taking sides.  There is simply no need for anyone to do so.

Live and let live.  As long as the discussion involves the lottery, it's OK with me.  I hate personal attacks, and I dislike off-topic chat-like posts between small groups of people that seeks to exclude others with no bearing on the lottery.

Assaults said--------"But the probability of any given number coming out straight is 1 out of 1000 and not 1 out of 6049"

Crow: No assaults, the probability of any one combination coming out straight "IS NOT" 1/1000....its only 1/1000 if you play 1000 combinations..

Look at the above table the 99.9% degree of Certainty of one given straight combination is 6049..

Like I said if you want to play multiple pools of combinations your odds go up....which is WHY I tell people all the time to play the "POOLs"... !!
