So pretty much everyone say they will do whatever it takes to stay anonymous if they win the lottery. But what if you can't stay anonymous? Let say if you win the lottery, you will have to appear on Oprah or The Lottery Changed My Life. Would you still want to win the lottery? What will you do after appearing on TV to make sure you don't get bothered or become a "target".

I would imagine the best thing to do is to change your name and move somewhere where nobody knows who you are.

You don't "have to" go public but i you did, just live like the rich people do who didn't win the lottery--Buffets, Kennedys, Oprah, Jobs, P-Diddy, etc...  "Hide" like they do.

Luckily, I live in a state where a person can collect lotto prizes anonymously. But even if I couldn't remain anonymous, there is no doubt in my mind I would absolutely want to win the lotto.

To make sure I don't become a target, I'd make it known I won't keep large amounts of cash or precious metals in my home. I'd make people think that most of my wealth is in the banking system or tide up in long term investments that I don’t have immediate access to even if that's not really the case.

Then I'd buy a house with over a 50 acre lot, a 12 gauge shotgun and a tax stamp which would allow me to legally buy a fully automatic AR-15 with multiple 40 round magazines.

FYI, I don't think changing your name would help you after you went on Oprah or The Lottery Changed My Life. From what I've read about changing your name you have to take out an ad in the newspaper telling people you’re changing your name. Bottom line if a scam artist or professional crook saw you on tv with your face and name and they wanted to find you, they will find you.

If anyone looked for me and set foot on my property without my permission, they will be treated to my own special brand of hospitality LOL

Since when does a "free" man need to beg permission for the right to own or buy whatever weapon they desire? Ohhh, right...since they became assets of the corporation, AKA the United States of America.Patriot

After I appeared on Oprah she would never agree to have another lottery winner on again, ever, trust me.

And no one would want to come looking for me.

In fact, people would hope I didn't come looking for them.

Depending on the state or country you live in, your name and the place where the winning ticket was bought is public information. Some states or countries even require you to appear at a press conference. There is a video on the internet of an israeli couple who won the lotto and had to appear on tv so they decided to wear masks. There was an American woman who won, I forgot which state it was but she came to the press conference with her lawyer and she wore sunglasses and a wig. And she made her lawyer do all the talking.

There are just too many Jack Whittaker stories out there to not have some sort of plan.

I wouldn't say buying a tax stamp is begging. I like to think of it more as legal bribery. I didn't make up the rules I just play by them. Who wants pigs kicking down their door? that sounds like an episode of Oprah I'd actually watch just to see the look of shock and awe on her face

                            lotto winner

Here's the woman I wrote about earlier, the caption says she's the "Partnership Representative" but we all know she's the winner. This is a textbook case on how to claim your prize in a state that requires winners to show up to a press conference, with your lawyer and in a disguise. Luckily my state doesn't require winners to have a press conference.

Good qoute! I'm all for cutting the strings (legally of course) and telling them to get bent!  There is a way to do this and there are people living in the good ole US of A who drive without a license, do not pay taxes and have thier own special notice on the local Sheriff's tackboard to "not detain under any circumstance" you just have to learn the legal language and history thereof to beat them at thier own game. Sorry to get political, I LOVE THE LOTTERY! (there, all betterWink)
