This Poll is for your state's big game whether Pick-6 or Pick-5 Plus 1.

The question isn't how many ticket you play or can afford. It is about the minimum number of tickets you feel would be necessary to play per draw in order to have a good chance to win. In other words, if you had access to the I wish playing budget necessary to properly work your wheel, system or strategy how many tickets would that take per draw?

Or, if a lotto pool asked you to make up their combinations in return for a free share, how many combinations would you say were necessary to take a really good shot at each draw?

I selected 24 but actually it would be 29 for me. I would need to wheel 12 numbers and if I wanted to guarantee a 3 if 3 of 12 it would require 29 combos. So far this year I have gotten one 4+0 win, two 3+1 wins, and seventeen 3+0 wins in powerball playing a 3 if 3 of 12 wheel.

I voted 6, but in reality I like to play all the numbers in the matrix, which in Tx Lotto is 54. It takes 9 lines to play all the numbers, so every number is in play. This is more than I can spend because I play all the jackpot games, so I am mostly a one or two dollar player.

Funny, I was thinking yesterday about changing it up and playing 36 numbers in 6 lines next week. Reason is, if I manage to play the correct 6, the guarantee is 1 number on each line, but a decent chance at 3/5 or 4/6 prize, if not better.

At work, I buy the pool tickets, which is usually PB, and I usually play as many numbers as I can, which is 50 for $10 (white balls). I just think it affords the best chance to hit a jackpot.

well it depends what we mean by win. pull the jackpot, i dont think it can really be done.i sellected 100 tickets, and that would be so i can pull a 3+b back and recoup some of my bet.

consider i play a gurantee 3 hit; 50% of the time, for around $10 on 18 lines. 100 should be enough

although 100 lines would only be a 30% cover of 4out of 6

My game is Win for Life. I don't play everyday but when I do I use a wheel of 16 numbers, 38 combos. It's guarantee is 4 with 6 correct. I often win multiple 4 hits ($30 each) & multiple 3 hits ($2), even when I don't actually pick all six. So I actual come out ahead, not by a lot but it's better than always losing.

the 100 lines i chose costs $43.75 a game and woulda won $12.50 last draw. for a moday,

or

cost $60 for sat , and won $26.

The number of combinations depends on the numbers in the wheel I generate using a personal workout.

If there are 9 numbers, which is usually the case, I play 5 combinations, which means each digit is played at twice.
If there are 12 numbers, I play 8 combinations. Each digit is used at least 3 times.

I usually play a 4 number wheel in the Pick 3 game. A $290 win with a $4 investment is a good choice, IMHO.

It all boils down to confidence in your workout. If my individual number choices are right, and sometimes they are,
I don't need to spend a large amount, even if I had it.

I realize, of course, that there are a couple of thousand possible combinations with any wheel, but
playing them all is expensive. Besides, many of those combinations would be duds because it wouldn't be possible
to have all the winning numbers in every set.

One, the reason being that no matter what your method of number selection, from some high-tech software to a QP, when the six numbers you played are the six numbers drawn it was pure luck and nothing but luck.

If that wasn't the case, there would be a large number of jackpot winners here on LP. Oh, wait....

Of all the tickets played, of all the lines of numbers, only one wins, and for most draws there is no winner.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

It's becoming apparent to me that the number of tickets needed to win is at least one more than I usually purchase, which is two, in Virginia.

Tennessee has phony baloney computer draws, that's why I play in Virginia.

Only 1 ticket per draw is needed - provided it contains the winning number!

I don't think I've ever bought more than 6 unique numbers for a draw.

Depends on what you would call winning. It's not practical for most players to play enough lines to guarantee a winning ticket so most spend only what they can afford to lose, usually $1-$20 depending on the jackpot size.

Ohio has three jackpot style games Classic Lotto, MegaMillions and PowerBall.

Classic Lotto is a 6/49 game and the minimum win is a 3/6 for $2. To guarantee a winning combination of 3/6 I would have to play 163 lines even though the overall odds of having a winning ticket are 1:54.

Megamillions is a 5/56 + 1/46 game and the minimum win is a 0+1 for $2. To guarantee a winning combination of 0+1 I would have to play 46 lines with all 46 megaball numbers even thought the overall odds of having a winning ticket are 1:40.

PowerBall is a 5/59 + 1/39 game and the minimum win is a 0+1 for $3. To guarantee a winning combination of 0+1 I would have play 39 lines with all 39 powerball numbers even thought the overall odds of having a winning ticket are 1:35.

I seldom play more than 20 lines, playing enough lines to guarantee even a minimum win is for lottery pools and big spenders.

* you don't need to buy every combination, just the winning ones *

Hi Jimmy:

Something isn't right with your wheel or the description. CoverMaster makes a (12,6,3,3)=15 wheel and the Iliya Bluskov book Combinatorial Lottery Systems (Wheels) with Guaranteed Wins (available through the LotteryPost Amazon book store left column) has a 12 number wheel with two 3 number prizes. 2x(12,6,3,3)=22 and so 29 lines is a lot of extra lines.

This CoverMaster wheel guarantees both (12,6,3,3) and (12,6,4,6) in 15.

ONE TICKET: Is always the correct answer to, "How many tickets does it take to win a jackpot?"

The question here is how many tickets do you feel would be the ideal number to play in each draw to target a jackpot? When you make up your tickets, don't you ever get the feeling that if you could cover more numbers more ways you might be winning more and have a better shot at a jackpot? Where if you had a better budget like $100 per draw or $1,000 you could make it happen? On the other hand maybe you don't want to fill out 100 play slips for each draw, so there is a balance to be struck.

How much would you like to be able to spend on your big game lottery draws?

yeah i would have to agree covering all numbers inb the draw , so in my lotto thats all 45 numbers. i wouldnbt even consider the powerball.

basically multiply the games to cover 5/45 by 45 to get that too much, ill do some numbers

umm 9x45 to have everey number covered, and ea with the power ball so 405 lines to get 1 hit plus pball

tuesday lotto 7/45 = 7 tickets

pball 5/45 +1/45 = 405

mon/ wed/ sat 6/45 = 8 tickets

pools 6/38 = 7 tickets

although i usually try n win something not just hit 6 numbers in my wheeled numbers
