Yet we are always reading advice from people never winning a jackpot that tell us to consult with a financial adviser before validating the ticket. If anybody has personal knowledge of a financial adviser with an excellent record of handling multi-million dollar portfolios, it's only because they handle their accounts. For the rest of us, it's searching the yellow pages even though we don't have a clue what to ask when when we find one.

How could any jackpot winner with little or no knowledge of financial planning determine if the adviser will act in their best interest or just be thinking about how they will spend whatever percentage they can get?

I'll validate my ticket and open an account with the same bank the lottery uses and then I'll make inquires about a good lawyer and financial adviser. For those worried about phone calls, get an unlisted number; takes about 10 minutes.

I like the line in Shakespeare's play, Henry VI that says: "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers".

    I take that back.

    I don't like it.

    I love it.

only use finance advisors and lawyers that work for a flat fee, if they ask for %,don't walk, run.

I agree, I think my brand of humor is an acquired taste.

                        Definitely not for everyone.

A lot of people hate me.

                        And wish I was dead.

Some just wish I was paralyzed and in a permanent comatose state with a drool cup hanging under my chin.

Some wish I was in Australia throwing kangaroo crap at the crocodiles to defend myself in the outback because you're not allowed to have guns over there.

                        But I love em all.

And I just might buy em all a 1.75 liter bottle of Jack when I win the big one. Don't ask me how much whiskey is in a 1.75 liter bottle either cuz I don't know. We switched from gallons and quarts and fifths and pints and 1/2 pints to liters a long time ago because the libs wanted to make the friggin Europeans like us better or something. And now the libs want us to buy Chinese light bulbs that cost ten times as much as Tommy Edison's and require a Hazmat Team to clean up the mercury if you break one.

                        Don't get me started.
