I've been thinking a bit about those 2015 hits leaders.
Maybe they're gonna fool me and fade away. Maybe there's a sleeper in the mix that's gonna wake up and move to the front of the pack. (Like #'s11, 17 & 27. They're within striking distance of #6 & 29)
Every day when I update my spreadsheet that shows which numbers have how many hits in 2015, I don't have any visibility to the numbers that might be making a move. In other words, after I'm through updating it, I can only see how things stand as of today. So I've been thinking of making a new spreadsheet every day from now until 12/31/15. That way I could see when which numbers started to move and how far they moved from one week to the next. It's not that much extra work, all I have to do is copy the sheet, update it and then save it.
This is the time of year when I think I can make the most effective use of that spreadsheet. Right now, I'd be very wary of playing #'s 16 and 28. That's because they have the least hits in 2015. (26 hits each) They've been cold all year, and there just isn't enough time in 2015 for them to catch the leaders. (Today is the 300th day of 2015, so there's only 65 drawings left this year.) I'm thinking that I should give extra heavy play to the hit leaders from now until 12/31/2015 because they're the numbers that have the best shot at getting to 60 hits. But maybe there's a number sitting in fifth or six place that's gonna get super hot and move up to take the lead.
I do the same kind of thing each month. Right now, #18 has the most hits in October with 7. Maybe it's got one or two hits left in it, but I'd also play #'s 13, 35 & 39 because they've each got 6 hits in October. One of those four numbers will get to 8 or more hits by Halloween. G5
