I'll definitely create jobs and build lottery of my own.
What's the point of playing in casino or lottery if I can own one anyway.

Suspiciousness is one way of saying that one do not want to know the truth. It is the best way to keep the mind empty and the spirit restless.

Hell Yea. Carpenters to build the new garage. Landscapers to cut the grass. Autobody shops to restore old cars. Also need someone to finish splitting my wood pile. It's alot of work.

yea, i like this, first i'll send my 80 elcamino off to the resto shop,

then build a big garage, 12 cars parking section isolated from the shop area, inside car wash.

i can do carpentry work but still need to hire others to get it built faster, (impatience)

as part of the deal they will be welcome to use the shop, also need electricians, plumbers, etc.

2nd fl. will have a woodworking/upholstery shop,i'll even put  a office/media room in it so i can go to LP.

and splitting wood, yes its hard work.

I voted yes, as I'll invest in homes/townhomes rentals and college student housing. My son, who is still in college could take over the business while I semi retire and run our foundation. My daughter is self employed, so she is set. For the foundation? I've decided forget people, I'll help the animals through grants to non PETA-HSUS groups like Animals Angels and independent rescues. People always want more and more, but animals are happy with just a little bit of love and attention. Well, most are anyway... LOL.

Depends on how much I win. I remember a story of a internet millionaire who went into a comicbook publishing business and bellied up later because of the poor business practice. Should I do the same? If I win like more than $200 mil then maybe I can set up my own video game developer, hiring a few dozen incredibly talented people.

The fact that you won, probably means that you will be spending more money. You would thus be creating or maintaining jobs. The question is however...How many of those jobs are really American jobs?

You are a slave to the choices you have made.  jk

You are correct that you will create SOME jobs just by spending the money.  But here is how I am looking at the

Would you create JOBS if you won the lottery? question.

If you buy product A which is made in China/Korea ect then you do create 'work' for the workers in the factory's in those countries, shippers of the goods and then retailers of the end product.

BUT! Instead, if you open a business that makes that same product *IN* America, you now get the added benefit of the WORKERS getting JOBS here in America.  One of the benefits that go with those jobs, is all the taxes that are collected (which is a whole different subject, I would like see us move to LESS taxes but its STILL a benefit for THIS discussion)  All the money SPENT to open that buisness, the 'factory/office', the advertising.  The spill over effect like the local restaurants which the workers now have extra money to visit, ect, ect.

In the end the biggest benefit is the satisfaction the worker gets from the job. A basic goal for America should be to get back to families just needing ONE job to survive on, and this is thebest way to achieve that.

There are many more benefits but in general most people want to work and the MORE jobs we have in America the better.  If you take the 'I can't get a job' or worse'I can't get a job I like/want to do, and have to settle for this crappy job' problem out of America it becomes a much better place to be.  The real problem we want is 'Not enough workers to fill all the jobs'.

This is a very interesting topic.

My most honest answer would be I don't know or maybe create jobs indirectly somehow.

Let's face it, a lottery jackpot is a major, probably once in a lifetime score. One definition of financial freedom is always having the money to do what you want to do when you want to do it.

So opening a store or anything else that would make you still a slave to a clock or business hours doesn't exactly fir that definition.

Someone here on LP once said that when you win a jackpot you trade one set of problems for another. Considering that, I think you'd have to be real careful about what you did to create jobs.

Opening a few Subway franchises or Little Caesar's pizzas might provide some jobs but you'd have to plug in people you really trusted to manage them.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                  Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I think anytime you spend money you're helping to provide or keep jobs.

I would be more likely to donate in a big way to good causes like Wounded Warriors and Salvation Army and St Judes Childrens Hospital and others.

Also to funds that are working on cures for catastrophic diseases.

And to No-Kill Animal Rescue Organizations and Shelters.

The food banks are an excellent front line for helping out children and adults who are disadvantaged, kudos for you weshar!  Thumbs Up

I'm looking at it on the other side. I would only think of creating a business with the current administration in place.  No double dip, things SLOWLY improving, the firt thing the the Rs would do is create a recession. The Rs get in there I would build my remote bug out location dump my money into gold and relax on my property while the world collapses.

And the greenie things WOULD be my business.

And I especially LOVE the new electric  cars coming. My car fleet would be all electric. A Tesla, a Polaris EV ATV, an electric cycle, and a converted 1956 Chebby.

I love the new tesla cars coming. The Tesla model X would work great on my ranch.

And with the eventual new wireless on the move charging I would never have to stop except to pee or sleep.

And on top of it there is self driving cars coming before you know it.

Set the trip up on the GPS and let it take you to your destination.

Zero to 300 mph in 1 second, I love it!( slight exaggeration).

Would I create if I won the lottery ???? I honestly can't say as I would "CREATE" jobs. The difference I see in the postings above is between "Create and Maintain....To me create means to make from nothing and maintain means to continue from existing....Do I have an idea to create a product ??   Yes sirrrrreeee Bob, I sure do.....My big obstacles are after the product would be patterned. Wouldn't it be great to build a place in the USA, so we could CREATE new jobs by manufacturing the new product ? I am just afraid that someone would alter the product, have it made in someplace like Singapore or Thailand and cut the price by 33% and cause  the newly created jobs to go bye bye....With that being said. I would have to say I would maintain jobs vs creating them

That is EXACTLY what has happened to us.  So you are saying that if there were two similar products on the shelf and one was made in China for $1 and the other had the American flag on it saying Made in USA and was $3, most people would buy the $1 one just to SAVE money.  Me, I just want the CHOICE of where products are made, so would like to see more American Made products on the shelf.

I hear ya on the choice Kapla....the benefit of choice doesn't pay the maker to have a more expensive product sit idle on the shelf and not sell unless you have the finances for that option. Of course a lottery win affords you that option, but the everyday working stiff has budget limits. That being said.....I think the "maintain" option is more prevalent than the "create", other than hiring personal staff.
