After FB, Twitter and other social networks? I don't like people hiding their identity.

Then Flanders should be given back to the Flemish.

Youtube is constantly asking me to use my real name, and they give me no option to say no, except to remind me later. They'll just have to keep reminding me forever, cause I say NO NO NO.

      Mad

      Tell me about it!!!

      This is Youtube not Facebook!!

I don't have a FB account, I just click the "remind me later" and move on...cause it's never going to happen.

Nope. I have Facebook and twitter but they're not even my real name, used only to sign on to other sites where I can easily make comments.

YouTube uses my real name but I don't upload or comment so it's not an issue, not to mention when I did have an account I uploaded with it was under my full name anyways.

There's no way though I want my name used everywhere I go and tracking everything I do and it's clear most people don't. This is why we have VPN clients and things like Incognito Mode for Chrome. Also look at other countries where people are forced to use Tor to get anything out in fear that the government will come after them (I think it was most recently used by Libyans getting info out to reporters).

I deleted my FB account about 2 months ago.

Some idiot I was arguing with on another site found out my real name even though I never revealed it, and opened an account on FB impersonating me while asking to be friends with everyone I was friends with. But that wasn't the worst part. This person went as far as writing material that was so vile, disgusting in nature and untrue to get back at me, that I can't even repeat here, and anyone I was friends with was able to see this if they were online looking at their FB pages. A few of my relatives did see it and It was embarrasing because i had to write back on the public pages explaining why they were seeing this, as I'm explaining to you on LP now.

The cyber technology to infiltrate has gone up hundreds of folds exponentially in the last few years with the dawning of the Anonymous infiltrator's emergence onto the scene.

Even today, on Craigslist, i clicked on more info for employment and Microsoft Essentials notified me it was cleaning up something that was trying to hack my computer. Rediculous !

A new bill proposed in the Illinois legislature looks to completely wipe out any form of anonymity on the internet by requiring that the operators of basically any website on the entire internet take down any comment that isn't attached to an IP, address, and real name-verified poster.

                rdgrnr,

Illinois is a blue state because of Chicago and Cook County. The rest of the state isn't like that except for university towns. But the politicians know that Cook County is all they need to win state elections.

                BobP,

So this would only apply to Illinois residents? How would that work? This sounds borderline like China.

This would also seem to hint that the next step would be onlye-mail addresses of first initial and last name, which is considered a security no no unless it's a compnay e-mail that requires it.

In a kind of related sense, thre news reported the other night that there is a proposal that all 2014 and later cars would have a black box.

"This is DHS. We noticed that you were listening to Alex Jones while you were driving today. We need you to come in and talk to us."

                Bang Head

In my opinion it's layered and tricky because it fans out to include everyone on the internet whose content is available in Illinois.  Kind of like going after out of country online casino owners (who allow US players) when they visit the US.  Site owners would have to accept being an illegal actor in Illinois or pretty much dump all their unverified posted content or find a way to only show certain content to Illinois residents based on their ISP address.

Our elected officals seem to think passing laws is evidence they are doing their jobs.  This country is so tangled in webs of laws it is pretty much impossible to do anything without buckets of lawyer money.

You mean to tell me 'they' are actually proposing a "black box" in your car, like the one they have in planes?  It figures, since 'they' already have one in your t.v. set and cable box receiver, with a camera to boot.  Once the technology is available, 'they' will use it - I don't nothing past 'them'.  Cameras are already in your pc too. Dang, nosy people eh?

The useful idiots would be all for it naturally cuz all they ever do is recite the government line like parrots anyway cuz they can't think for themselves and they're bought and paid for anyway.

In fact, they'd be the ones informing on people who think for themselves, demand their rights and refuse to do what they're told.
