Jon,

Some good points and also thanks for the cool and informative chart.  I, for one, am tired of spending $42M on every draw (I guess one or two other Californians bought tickets as well) in order to carry the water for all the other sorry, measly states.  :)

And rcbbuckeye, thanks for making my morning with your great response.  Other than a bit of spilled coffee from laughing when I saw it, it was great.

Some good points to consider all around, including mrcraft's observation that makes a lot of sense, that people may tend to buy less multipliers in lieu of more tickets when the jackpot gets crazynormous.

Good luck, and may one of us quietly win Friday's little MM jackpot completely under the radar.

After this latest megamillions drawing and seeing how a couple states had multiple second prize winners of $1,000,000 (Georgia being one of them on top of the jackpot ticket????) and my state Pennsylvania had zero 2nd place winners "again" I think something somewhere is rigged. I used to play a couple of my numbers and a couple qp's. Now I'm just going to play my numbers period.

And how is it the 2nd prize winners (20 this latest drawing and 12 I believe in the last) none of them had a multiplier? Sorry, but it just seems a bit odd to me.

I would love to know if the winner in California had a qp that matched the one in Georgia or did he/she too have his own numbers?

You are right ! already know it crooked and knew they would give it away on Tue they were not gonna let it go any higher bunch of BS guess luck won out

It's just sales, no conspiracy. States with more sales have more winners.

Actually, last draw was pretty fair in that many low selling states had some 2nd prize winners: (luck won out over probability)

Wow Jon- that is some impressive chart you have going here dude.California contributed the lion's share to this MM jackpot, what would have been more impressive is if we had 2 jackpot  winners from CA...oh but then you would hear of " conspiracy" ....until they took a gander at this chart.

Reminds me of a poster (who is now in the "land of no avatar") a couple years ago who whined every time there was a 5+0 or jackpot winner from Pa. I used to get a laugh from him. He really thought Pa was in on a conspiracy with PB and MM. I think his handle was Scorpio? Not sure.

You are wrong!  The lottery officials would have loved for it to have rolled at least one more time if not twice.  They wanted the new record and a possibly of a billion dollar jackpot.  I am sure they were disappointed.

No-one has ever hit mm from p.a, not sure about 5+0 winner's from p.a though. It seems p.a has more winners with pb.

I'm not complaining, I just find it strange/odd as to where the winners are from regarding the second place prize and how those states each received 2 winners each, and even more strange to me is how none of them had a multiplier. Is it me or ?????

Just curious is all, I'm very happy for all the winners.

A ton of people don't pay extra for the multiplier. Probably 95% of players only care about the jackpot and likely more than that.

                  PaScratchAddict,

"And how is it the 2nd prize winners (20 this latest drawing and 12 I believe in the last) none of them had a multiplier? Sorry, but it just seems a bit odd to me."

As ttech10 and others have said, most people don't play the extra $1 or they play it on another ticket (MM).

If you watch the drawings when they announce 2nd prize winners it's rare that any of them had played the Megaplier or the Powerplay.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                  Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Data for CT and TN were not available, but they'd be down there in the bottom half with no 5+0 winners. Must be a conspiracy.

You need the correct numbers to win a JP, not the correct location where you bought them.

I could be on Mars, as long as I had all the numbers correct. lol

There will never be a billion dollar jackpot.  It seems like everytime a jackpot hits the $500+ mil mark it all of a sudden becomes way too easy to win.

If high numbers would have been drawn, I bet this one would have rolled though.
