She told me about the GA 7500 week for life game about two weeks before it came out, she showed me the promotional material she wasn't allowed to post up at the time.

She said there is a new super lottery with a $5 price point coming by the end of the year, the goal is to have high 9 figure jackpots and the worlds first billion dollar jackpot. At the current matrixes it will be highly unlikely along with the low starting points to ever see a billion dollar jackpot. I heard about this website from time to time so is what she is saying true? She has given me correct info before

    Oh that's just great!

Now the LP lottery discussion thread will be flooded with worthless threads asking about what size mansion, car and toilet paper will be purchased If they won 3 billion dollars. Oh geesh...can't wait.

I almost forgot, the hundreds, who in the process will profess that they know for sure they'll beat the 1 in 1.5 billion odds of winning in their lifetime. *Rolls eyes*...oy vey !

The new $5 national game is called Monopoly Millionaire's Club. It is launching October 19th. It will be accompanied by a "second chance" themed TV game show that is projected to start in February 2015 ($1 million prize). For the lottery there will be NO billion dollar jackpot or high 9 figure jackpots. Anyone who says this is lying. The game is very similar to Lotto Max in Canada. Worse odds (overall 1 in 10), though. Its jackpot will start at $25 million and be capped at $50 million. This game is basically an answer to all the complaints "Why 1 big winner and not many millionaires?" I believe it will be a once weekly draw. At least 2 states have signed on, obviously more will approve in the upcoming months.

I've said this before, the lottery industry does not look forward to billion dollar jackpots of any kind or in any game. So they will not intentionally create one.

If the chances of winning the jackpot are so slim, why play when the jackpot is so small? Your chances never change, but the potential payoff does.
If a crystal ball showed you the future of the rest of your life, and in that future you will never win a jackpot, would you still play?

Too expensive.  I'd take my chances with Powerball and MM with the $5.  What Powerball and Megamillions need to do is change the starting JP to $100,000,000 to attract players and make more millionaires quicker.

              LottoMetro,

Thanks for the information. Yesterday the Missouri lottery sent out a survey asking if you would play a game with such and such a format and they did mention a Monopoly draw game.

The Missouri survey said the drawing would be once a week and televised from Las Vegas - not too sure about that as Nevada is so anti-lottery.

Good points about the jackpot fantasies.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

What are your thoughts on this new $5 game?

Eh, mixed. I like that they are going to have "10s to 100s" (their words) of millionaires when the jackpot gets hit. But with their 2 current jackpot games there is no reason they can't do the same thing by tweaking the odds structure and reserve pool a bit. I tend to look past "potential winners" and see the math. For starters, the payout is only going to be about 54%. At $5 a pop I would expect more than that. Overall odds of 1 in 10 on a $5 game? I can get better odds on a $1 scratch-off. The cap is $50 million with a starting jackpot of $25 million and $5 million increases. Not much to get excited about. The lottery is going to be relying on the TV show and the second-chance opportunities that this game will offer. So IMO if they fail to generate momentum from those two things then it could die pretty quick.

CT, the broadcast will be a Monopoly-themed game show, so its only connection to the lottery will be the fact that the contestants entered second-chance tickets. Vegas is synonymous with chance and gambling so I can understand why they would choose it. And since when does NV turn down money? Wink

P.S. Powerball matrix will be changing again soon, to players' glee [sarcasm]. I may have already mentioned that a couple months ago

                  Really?

Just last Wednesday, an LP member found out where I live and knocked down my front door demanding I read a certain thread, I forget which one at the moment.

While he was pointing the gun at my head, I wrestled the gun away from his hand with a distraction and gained control of the gun. The police finally showed up and he was promptly escorted away.

I'm not pressing charges because I got used to it after a few months.

Me too.  I don't know what to think about this game and pricing.  I imagine the odds for the secondary million dollar prizes are going to be in the "99.9% of players will never hit" range, so I just can't see people shelling out $5 for this game, much less $1 or $2 we pay now for our current jackpot games.  I could be completely wrong, and this game could end up being wildly popular.  Time will tell.

Good point BobP, but the lotteries know that the average player doesn't think that deep.

A lot of players have never even looked at the back of a playslip.
