All I can say is:  MegaMillions and Powerball lottos.

That's all that matters. Play those two and hope for the jackpot which will have you set for life.

Personally, I think those scratch games are a waste of your time and money.

In addition to those two, I will play some games at a local casino.

Each time I have a significant hit there, I put the money wins back into the lotto, as there is no bigger prize to be had.

So please, please, I beg of you, let the scratchers alone. Let someone else buy them. .. . . . uh. . . . . hmmm.

Anyway, good luck on the Powerball and Megamillions lottos.

I think about them all the time. Dreaming is free, but you never know when it could become a reality.

If I ever won a major lotto, I think my hair would stand on end, and stay that way for a while.

Hi Groppo,

Well hoping for the jackpot by playing just MM and PB hasn't worked out so far due to the astronomical odds of winng the jackpot.lol. When I play PB or any draw game I just buy one ticket with a QP, the few times I bought 5 tickets for a draw I still won nothing. The matrix on MM having to get 5 balls out of 75 is like a keno game it's just too hard to win. Guess you don't like scratch tickets. Even though the odds are still very hard on a scratcher more people end up winning jackpots on them (unfortunately if you  win 1 million on a scratcher and take the lump sum, after taxes you only win 400,00). Really wish the lottery would be honest on scratchers and show people with their prize check of the amount after the lump sum and taxes are taken out.

You are right about dreaming being free. Good luck to you.

I feel ya man !...I haven't hit since last august on P3 if it's any consolation.

In the end you have to look at the bright side of things.

First and foremost, beer..(and mass quantities when applicable)

Second is at least you're probably taller than Emmanuel Lewis and therefore will have no trouble meeting the height requirements to

get on rides at the amusement park

    Hope that helped Cheers

    Hi JohnnyBgood07,

Sorry to hear you haven't hit since August on P3. Had a good laugh when you mentioned beer. I have only had about 3 drinks in my life, can't stand the taste of  beer. Had a good laugh about meeting the height requirements for an amusement park ride. You have a positive attitude about life and that's great.

I'm with you there. I haven't won anything in about 7 months. I usually would win something (nothing much, 2 to 7 bucks or even a free ticket) every few weeks, now, absolutely nothing. But I did wish for my dream house to go down by $750,000 so that when I won the lottery I'd buy it and not feel guilty about spending that much on one house, and today it went down by the $750,000 in one fell swoop. No incremental decreases. Went to exactly where I wanted it, so now I just have to win the jackpot. Losing streaks have to end at some point, right?

      Hi Teddi,

Sorry to hear you haven't won anything in 7 months. Seems as if I am not the only one not winning, after hearing a few of you guys in the same boat.  Congrats on your dream house going to the price you wanted, now you just need the win! Good luck.

I thought scratchers had a preset amount of varying dollar amounts of of winning tickets.  I recommend just stopping completely.

The lottery jackpots are built on losing tickets... if everybody was winning on a regular basis, even mid to low range prizes, there'd never be any jackpots.

I wonder if anybody has posted a pie graph or bar chart (for us visual learners) showing how many people played a particular game and how many actually won a prize ($1 to whatever).  Wonder if that data is even available??? or if there's a different way to show what I'm talking about.

            Hi maringoman,

i have only played pick three once. I am not really sure about how the game works in terms of the betting. I also wouldn't want to get addicted to that game because it's played twice a day. How have you been doing on scratchers and draw games? We live in the same state.

            Affirmative.

I'm currently chasing #6 as the powerball number because it hasn't been drawn since July 27, 2013 at the rate of 1 ticket per draw. Thumbs Up

              Shyguitar:

I think you are backsliding and you are aware of it and this is actually good. I wish you would not look for happiness in scratchoffs.  When I am on a losing streak with the draw games, I know it just brings me closer to a small win. But I am happy with a free ticket or moving up on FJA's ranking list, etc. I think you spend too much time focusing on the lottery and really need to cultivate other interests. Isn't there a gambler's anonymous?

Sometimes your remorse is palpable and that is concerning.

" Backsliding and you aware of it and this is good"- in lottery terms perhaps Artist77.

              Backsliding...right!

                I want to win the lottery too much, therefore I lose alot of money playing. So I step back and only play every other day;

Any money I win, goes back to more lottery ticket's.. I have to be more careful with buying lottery ticket's, and be more patient with myself, and only play a few day's a week..

                  Hi pickone4me,

On the scratchers there are always a certain number of tickets that will have various amounts to win. Unfortunate ly it seems hard to win any amount on a scratcher. I will not stop playing scratchers completely but will still play draw games more.

                    Hi Romancandle,

i still think there would be jackpots even if people win the low prizes. On every draw there will always be people who will win something and the jackpots will never be easy to win with the matrix being nearly impossible to win the jackpot on MM or soon on PB. The lottery will always make sure they are the ones making out, otherwise what would be the point of them having the business. I still think lotteries just want to continue to make the odds impossible for the average person to even win a second place prize.

I am not sure about the pie chart you mentioned. I think the lottery doesn't want to be truthful in terms of all the people who lose daily on the lottery and only want to focus on the big winners on scratchers or the big draw games. I would love to have my states lottery website say how much people have spent daily on scratchers and draw games and then people might get a better idea that most of us will lose everytime we play.

The backsliding is only in terms of my buying scratch tickets again, just not the same way I previously bought them. My budget might be expanded a bit due to buying scratchers but I still try to be on a budget and not go on the path I once was on. Since the lottery is so random it really wouldn't make a difference for me if I spent more money since my wins would still be small. I just wanted to change things up a bit with my playing. It's funny how I went practically my whole life (until 4 years ago) without playing the lottery (with the exception of a few times a year buying a PB ticket when it was in the millions). Even the years I never played I liked to day dream about the miracle of a lottery win ( luckily during those years I was a realist and knew there wasn't going to be a win).

I think most of us want to win the lottery or we wouldn't be playing. Keeping yourself on a budget is important or otherwise one can really spend far too much chasing a dream that most likely will just happen to a few people. Good luck with your playing.

I was never a big lottery player and in some ways i am still not. For most of my life when i turned 18 i only played on and off for a few years. I might play a couple times this year or that year but that was in the 80's and i did not think too much of playing the lottery. In the 90's it was the same thing a little here and there. I did one pool in the late 90's. In the early 2000's i started to play lil more than usual and started a big pool at my job in a bank in PA. That lasted for about a year and a half. We never won anything significant. Then i stopped playing for a long stretch of time and didn't pick up til last spring. So now i am playing a bit more than usual and losing all the time but sometimes getting back maybe 20 something dollars. So i still dream of hitting that big one one day LOL I play scratchers every now and then. Haven't had that much luck with them yet Thumbs Up

                              Hi everyone,

Well these past few months have been quite depressing. I am on a losing streak. Have won nothing on the draw games and have even started playing a 20 dollar scratcher.  The first few times I played this scratcher won a hundred dollars but since then I have won nothing. The reason I started to play scratchers was because I hadn't been having any luck with the draw games. Luckily I am still tryimg to budget myself. When it comes to the scratchers I will buy one ticket in the store and if I lose will buy one more and leave. Today I bought a scratcher and lost but wasn't sure of buying one more of that same ticket and went next door to the grocery store for my shopping. We'll after shopping decided to go back to the liquor store where I had bought the scratch ticket and decided to get one more of the same one. We'll stupidly I did not ask what number the ticket was (had assumed it was the number before or after the scratcher I had bought). When I get in the car I realize it was ticket number 64 and the one I had bought 20 minutes ago was 66. I would not have bought the ticket if I had known. Most likely someone won on the ticket I didn't get. I have not scratched the number 64 one yet.

One of the reasons I had gone almost a year before buying scratchers again is because it's so easy to get addicted to them. I have to tell myself all the time that the more spending one does on a lottery doesn't guarantee success and that I need to always remember my budget. When it comes to the draw games I only play Mega Millions when it is in the millions (the matrix makes it so hard to win anything) and with Powerball and Lucky for Life still just buy one QP.  When they change the matrix for Powerball will play far less. It seems the lottery want to make it hard for people to be able to win second place on MM and PB with their matrix changes. I remember when lots of people would win 2nd place for MM, not anymore. Will continue to keep myself in the game and try to stay on my budget but would like this losing streak to end.

                              What state you play in?
