Good explanation of the Law of Large Numbers. Now you know why I do charts and tables and spreadsheets. Definitely something a programmer would be interested in.

It should also give you a HUGE hint at why people keep asking.....

WHAT LOTTERY ARE YOU PLAYING? Should hit you right smack dab between the eyes if you read that site. Been said here enough to write a book....You can look at the same game in different states and will see different results. Get different charts. The games trend differently. Backtest, backtest, backtest!

After reading that article, how can ignore the question, "what game are you playing?"

And there was that other question...oh yeah....Nikkicutie was wondering where you got the information I used Vtraks on Two Step? I gave up looking. Give us a little insight on that.....

Finally getting power restored and Internet after the storms last night. Lots of outside cleanup to do already and we're expecting more tomorrow.

Don't know when the power went out last night, but when it did it took the program. Although it appears from the file it had "found" about 15000 "low percentage" combinations.

Some look like pretty good picks. So before posting anything I need to rethink, rewrite and rerun to have a better idea of what we have and how and why we got it.

Of course, 15000 doesn't make a huge impact in 324632 (4.4%), and barely a smidgeon in any larger games.

And need to run those 15000 against some data bases to see if any have been drawn (and if so, how many.)

So.....not fun.....

but garyo, you also have to look at sequences of blocks that can be excluded,
that is if in a line of 10 numbers were drawn 1 or two numbers left over 8 to delete
then exclude small sequences, as well
would be great

I've peeped in on this thread from time to time, since its start, and still find something very interesting. To me personally, the very title (question) of this thread is actually self explanatory...in my opinion. One of the most important things I've learned about the game is that sometimes, I needed to cease from trying and looking so hard for something and just balance my efforts with some quality observation. It was only then that I discovered what was there, for my personal needs, the entire time which allowed me to retool my entire approach. I'm not afraid to say that I'm shocked at just how much I still learn about these games...especially when I reflect back to what I already knew worked well. In grwurston's signature, it reads, "You can observe a lot just by watching"... and it's the absolute truth.

Small games, frequent wins, and regular payouts 'cause.....

There are seven days in the week...'Someday' isn't one of them.

All a matter of how one perceives the game. If one perceives it as a one time coin flip event, I won't dispute it.

But as a series of events where there are 185 yellow, green, blue, orange, red, pink, purple, and rainbow balls in a box with 139 black balls, its different.

As a singular event one might pull all black balls, but in a series of events, multi-colored sets are going to overtake and surpass any single colored set.

So I choose to play for a multi-colored set on given knowns.

of previous draws, or doubles and trios
of the previous draws, such as blocks,
to exclude, not playing the numbers of the last draw and its adjacent ones, blovos with the last digit of the last draw can also exclude,

Not following because in 6/49 games there are 43 numbers missing in every drawing.

"not playing the numbers of the last draw"

But if I exclude (some?) numbers and/or block sequences from previous drawing and all the numbers from the last draw, there isn't anything to play.

Was looking at the Ohio Classic Lotto statistics for the last 50 drawings and it shows exactly what should be expected; some numbers were drawn more than others, some average and some less. The statistics should show about the same results for the next 50 draws meaning not much to see. Where do I look for your patterns?

We still have no discernible patterns to look for so I guess the next step is to create some any thing that shows a pattern.

A few years ago I placed the numbers in a 5/39 game in the order in which they were drawn and looked for any tendencies of where on the 39 column graph they were drawn from. I was looking for the best 14 or 15 columns and use those numbers in a 3 if 4 of 14 or 15 number wheel. At a buck a line, it was $20 a drawing so catching lots of 2 and 3 number matches with an occasional 4 number match was a must.

I actually showed a profit after 42 drawing, and even though I never matched 5 numbers, got lucky and had three 4 number matches. Over 42 drawings the statistics of how many times each of the 39 columns was drawn were about the same as expected for the regular drawing. Back to square 1.

Anybody have any ideas of what exactly are the patterns we're suppose to look for?
