So why all the wasted time trying? Trust me I do believe there is a possibility it can be done. But there are easier ways to accomplish the same result.
The time isn't wasted if you are having fun... for some of us it's a hobby...
I understand the odds and the risks... $1... big deal... (I am only after one pick... any more than 1 pick and your'e guessing or trapping). I also understand the returns... you only need to hit a mega-sized jackpot once... you only need one ticket to be in the game... why not work at making it a good one?
It's not about the numbers themselves, I am learning more and more that results can be broken down into dvents... most notable find I had is the number of repeats from wednesday to wednesday in the powerball's 5 white balls (5/53). the dvents to watch concerning that are single repeats from last wednesday... 2 wednesday draws ago... and 4 wednesday draws ago... they are disproportionately high over the entire history on just wednesday data.
It's fun to go hunting after something nobody has been able to catch before (of course people have won... but to be able to pick the winner in just one ticket... now THAT would be cool).
you can break down the sorted order positions using some of that hindsight and adjust the range of your pick to be within the 100% observed range, or a 90% observed range (cutting out the extremes by position)...
I KNOW why my theories fail... because statistics are too STATIC. I hit $7 on a $1 bet saturday by combining statistical MODE (by position) with a short term average... on wednesday it was way off... it looks like it is worth fine tuning and back-testing...
My goal is to get a consistently better pick than a quick pick... I have had better picks, but not consistently from any one method... I plan to go to my one ticket only + one control QP system again for the summer, and may drop the QP If I am closer than it for 5 weeks (10 draws) in a row... I have alot of fine-tuning to do tho... but it's fun... and gettng to that one golden ticket only... win-or-lose is as cheap as you can play and still be in the game...
I generate over 20 individual picks for every powerball draw... I do NOT play that many... they are too static, BUT... combining all of them using weighting and Long Term Range + Short Term Trends is proving to be the way to go... Luck will still be needed, but I gotta do what I can to help nudge lady luck along a little...
If I didn't play with lottery history and prediction attempts in excel I would have no real use for it right now... Would have been a waste buying Office (as I got it for MS Office Classes I took when my cool high-tech job got sent offshore) and with computer technology, rust is not desirable...
I see it this way... It's a fun hobby, I never bet money I can't afford to lose, I'm not selling anyone anything, I hardly even post predictions because I am not yet satisfied with the results of anything I have tried yet... I am more willing to talk about theories and look for new avenues to explore... more stones to turn over... and regardless of anyone dropping by to "enlighten" us... those of us that enjoy combing past draw history for any even remote clues to future draws will continue to do so full speed ahead.
Do I believe it can be done? probably at some point in the future, but most likely NOT by me... but I try anyway... I work out numbers for games I don't even play... because it's the process that I enjoy... I will most likely never reach that elusive destination, but I AM having a blast on the journey...
I play my guitar for more hours a week than I sit in front of my lottery excel sheets... I don't consider that wasted time either... because I enjoy it.
