if it went over 10 hundred mils. they could just say,

11 hundred mils.

12 hundred mils. etc.

Or they might just rename the entire game as a fresh start, nothing to do with the jackpot levels. How about "Millions for Life",

"Set for Life", "Mega Retirement", "Lotto Mania", or "Instant Nirvana". ?  LOL

Good Lord, Ridge. That'd serve it's purpose and clear the room for sure!

I wonder how much they will up the jackpot tomorrow. Anyone want to bet MM cash tops $400m by draw time?

I wouldn't be surprised to see a $425-450M cash. ($600-650+ million jackpot).  Lep

          Sirbrad,

I, and I believe most of the people on this site, would disagree with you.  There's nothing egotistical about it.  It has nothing to do with the winner as a person, so it's not ego or self-righteousness.  It's the money, and people's attempts to get some of it.

Yes, of course, 99.9999% of people will go about their lives.  Normal people.  But just a few hundred, or even a few dozen grifters, can hound you and make your life miserable.  Some just begging, some pitching charity or business ideas.  Phone calls, mail, door-knockers, etc.  Since I don't want to leave my life and family and go into seclusion to avoid this (as some people seem to have no problem doing) I prefer to remain anonymous (and just slowly adjust living standards upwards as "new business opportunities" slowly pay-off).

I do, however, agree with you regarding the friends and family -- which is more to the point.  But if you don't keep it a secret from strangers, do you really think family and friends will forget about it in a couple of weeks?  You have to keep it secret from the media if you want to keep it secret from extended family.

Also, I'd prefer not to be known as a lottery winner to any businesses I may patronize.  I don't want them to feel entitled to jack-up prices and rip me off.

See I never understood how people can think they can win the lottery and stay anonymous.

You say you dont want to be known as a lottery winner to any any business you patronize? Well the bank knows how much you have and will treat you like a high priced client.  Oh and you will have to get all the tellers to sign  confidential statements they all live in the community.

Useing cash for everything might be hard because when your credit card company ups you to the exclusive black card it may be hard to hand that over to to the business you patronize and not get looks.

When you quit your job people will wonder what you do for money, you up your living just a little and people will guess you have money.

Somebody in your community will find out, it will end up in the local paper, then it will end up in the paper of the closest large city, it will spread like wildfire.

There is a million ways people will find out, from tax records, possible Audits, any court rulings, and public record.......legally and illegally you will not keep it a secret

A paycheck of that size would require an industrial sized fork truck to get that sucker home.   Scared

The curiousity is going to be so great I am afraid the retailer(s) might release the winners photo(s) from the security camera(s) before the winner even has a chance to come forward.  They are notified when and that they have sold the winning ticket.  Imagine being outed before you are ready holding a $600,000,000.00 ticket.........

I've thought of that too... The main gas station i use.. 3 of my buddies work there.. I've been trying to avoid it *just in case* so it wouldn't be so obvious... *notice i said buddies not great friends* and i wouldn't want them knowing necessarily  for fear of word getting spread around!!

                  I wish I may, I wish I might...
Win the Powerball jackpot THIS big night!!!

Wouldn't it suck if Jack Whittaker also won this? I hope he smartened up and quit playing the lottery. But needs to finance his strippers.

Sucks even worse that most likely no one in this thread will win, and we are just padding the pockets of some stupid already rich investor who does not even need it. So all this chatter is pretty much a waste of time based on past results. I am all about being positive but coming back down to reality is a long fall. Prove me wrong lottery, and stop being so boringly predictable for once.

Wow $540 million now, they could have just gave me that $40 million and I would have been ecstatic. Hell even a few million and I would be ecstatic. But $540 million, I am not sure any words can describe that level of happiness. Would be crazy if this got to a billion or more.

What is Powerball? LOL They need to go back to A Dollar and A Dream.

Better than their current slogan, "now lose $2-3 dollars instead of $1.00 ."

The very, very long line was in California, people from Nevada crossed the border to

purchase their tickets. I was wondering where that was.

They think with enough tickets sales every combination was purchased so it's almost

guaranteed their will be a winner tomorrow night!!
