Pair hits the jackpot after years of playing Illinois Lottery

By Todd Northrop

A Carol Stream, Illinois, couple has won a whopping $7.4 million jackpot in the Illinois Lottery after their April 29 Quick Pick Lotto ticket hit on all six numbers.

The winning ticket was purchased at Carol Stream's Payless Tobacco.  The winning numbers on April 29 were 4, 5, 7, 12, 31, and 45.

Carol Davis and Conrad Rask met eight years ago at an area restaurant where she was a manager and he a regular patron, and for years the two have bonded over playing the lottery, according to an Illinois Lottery press release.

Rask says Davis used to scratch lottery tickets during breaks, which led to the two playing together.

"I couldn't believe my eyes," said Rask, a retired electrician, in the release. "I called Carol right away and told her we just won $7.4 million."

"Conrad suggested we start playing Lotto together... He really believed that one day we would win big, and we did!" Davis exulted in the release.

The pair has won smaller prizes before, but nothing of this magnitude.

Rask said he will share his winnings with family and invest; Davis said the same, adding that she will also likely get a new car.

The Payless Tobacco store, located at 1485 Fair Oaks Road, Carol Stream, was awarded a bonus of $74,000 for selling the ticket.

Glad they are sharing, and there is not fighting over the winning ticket.

Yea, lawyers hate when that happens.

I Agree! "I couldn't believe my eyes," said Rask, a retired electrician, in the release. "I called Carol right away and told her we just won $7.4 million."

From how I read the story sounds like he brought the ticket and from the instant he knew it was a jackpot winner he wasn't hesitant at all to call his friend and tell her "We've won a jackpot".

I've had friends and relatives who wanted a similar agreement with me except they only brought tickets occasionally or not at all and I buy them almost every drawing and I might not be as anxious to call them if I won a jackpot and hadn't heard from them for a while.

The right thing to do  OR the easy way out?  Good for them ! Not everyone has an ulterior motive.
