Someone in this site suggested first that the lottery winner was a group of people and that it was impossible for one person to win it. Then he/she claimed that the Jackpot wouldn't increase to over 500 mil. Talk about irony. To those who play the lottery don't let those with their statistic intimidate you from playing or ruin your dream. Anything is possible even when the odds are against you.

Some of the lyrics from the Laura Branigan song, "Gloria," really ring true to this lottery jackpot story.

"Gloria, you're always on the run now...

I think you've got to slow down before you start to blow it

I think you're headed for a breakdown, so be careful not to show it...

Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?

    You don't have to answer

Leave them hangin' on the line, oh-oh-oh, calling Gloria

I think they got the alias (Gloria) that you've been living under (Gloria)"

SO AWESOME!!!  Go Gloria!!!  Party like its your Birthday!!! Party

Gloria is definitely on the run now (from the media and people who want her to share the wealth with them).

She should get an alias too.  Banana

Congratulations to this jackpot winner. I like this largest jackpot in Powerball history to be claim by a single ticket.

For the current winner from Florida and the big winner last August from Michigan it was very easy to find their street address and view of their current home using free popular web sites. Do you think one of the State Lottery officials and/or the hired attorneys would think of this simple practical free limit on their privacy? It is safe to say the lotteries want to exploit the news conferences for free publicity. They are certainly willing to have people say whatever is on their minds if it brings free publicity, sell more ticket sales and provide bonuses to State Lottery officials. They are not in the protection of  the winners privacy !!!

What the clerk did was a matter of daily routine, NOT an act of kindness. The clerk gets nothing.

Nothing?  Not even chicken wings or a box of donut holes.

"While in line at Publix, another lottery player was kind enough to let me go ahead of them in line to purchase the winning Quick Pick ticket."

Man, I'm sure that person is mad.

She stepped forward and said it probably wasn't meant to be, but I agree with you.  I'd be in shock.  Perhaps if she can prove she is the person who was polite to the elderly winner (which won't be difficult, since each ticket has the exact time on it, there are surveillance cameras, etc.) the winner will share some of her money.   I would.   Even a mere 1% is over $2 million.

The RNG changes the QP's in milliseconds, so the hesitation created when the cashier said she was a line jumper, and the other said it's OK,

means that the QP #s changed 100s of times in those few seconds of talk.

This was probably the Florida Lottery's attempt at more publicity.  They had not even left the offices, and there was a lot of media already.  That isn't cool. But, to be fair, I think there was media camped out on the likely chance that the winner would come there to claim it.  So, she probably should of had a disguise so her face would not be all over the news and internet.  Good luck, Gloria! Banana

True, I didn't think of the media camping out.  There's probably only one office in the area where that big of a ticket could be claimed.  Apologies to the Florida Lottery if they weren't the ones who notified them.

Probably the woman who says she was the one who let the winner cut in line.
